Based on the highly successful système Gribeauval, the Van Karsten system is a new system of artillery, aiming to standardize the artillery pieces and increase their performance. Instead of casting them around a clay cylinder, guns are cast as one piece, and the bore is then drilled into it.

The smoother bore allow tighter-fitting projectile, increasing range and precision, while decreasing the overall weigh of the cannon. Cannons in the System are standardized with 3-, 6- 12- and 24-lbs variant available.

The Flag of the Dunwich Meritocratic Confederacy, Glory Merited

The eight bands represent the eights settlements that unanimously voted to create the Confederacy during the First Constituent Assembly*. The flag itself was chosen during the Fourth Constituent Assembly. At the time, it was the custom that each new Meritant (the title of the Meritocratic Confederacy's head of state) would issue his personal flag to the various Confederates army units, causing quite a considerable expense.

In order to simplify things, it was agreed that a common design would be chosen, and that the sigil of the Meritant would be embroidered in black thread (or, in time of above average political instability, drawn with charcoal) on the top left quadrant of the flag, left white for that purpose.




*Some people, notably among the settlements that are now parts of the Kingdom of Atterton, hold that since they did not send delegates to the First Assembly, the Assembly had no right to vote in their name to join the Confederacy. That argument of course does not hold: the first Act of the First Assembly was to give itself the power to appoint delegates for those settlements who couldn't send anyone, and that is how the delegates for Fort Silver, Atterton, Newton, Ft. Combe and ft. Alton joined their colleagues from Montgomery, Bradford and New Dunwich in establishing the Confederacy.
