rifling/improved cartridges
Could we have a cost estimate on this actually? I mean materials would be the same as now but complexity-wise it could be different. Hard to say since while rifling wasn't done for guns until 4 decades from now, it's not really a matter that it couldn't be done or the technology was cutting edge, the idea just wasn't really come up with.

Should we increase our navy so we can take the british islands?

Yeah isn't that why were building better boats.

Yeah. I feel like next turn we should create some kind of weapon that is useful in boarding boats.

I was tooking if we could make simple portable mortars we could use them on land and ships for next turn or improve our transport with a steam train?

That sounds good. Locomotives would definitely help. We should make some kind of grapple launcher that can latch onto ships.

Why do you want to board their ships so much?

Why not just shoot them?

So we can plunder and loot! But if we just want to shoot, we should develop some kind of greek fire. Also, for espionage, can we sabotage the loyalists?

Think be best to sabotage the confedrancy since we can use ships to conter the loyalists dogs.

So apparently we need a flag. As far as I can trace, the Richards in England are primarily Norman, so I'm going to see if their family crests have a motif that appears in a lot of them. I'm going to see if I can get something out of that in a standard flag size and matching our gold colouring.

EDIT: I mean... the 'Rich' family is pretty close in name right? Though I suspect that our noble king wasn't of nobility before the independence war.

Nobody should trust me with an art ever again.

Someone else could probably do better but at least there's some general themes in there that would be good to follow. Royal families love halberds.

Quote from: Design Phase Results
Am-MulardA - A steam ship 115 feet by 23 feet large that carries three fixed guns to the front of the ship, one on each side and one forwards.  Its power comes not from sails, but from a steam engine specially designed for it that uses a network of pistons, gears, and a flywheel to provide force to the twin paddle wheels.  The engine winds up failing from time to time due to the many cuts to bring it to the minimum required to not have it be too heavy to sink the boat.  The wood frame is light and as a result can be sunk fairly easily.  The paddles and required shape causes it to perform poorly with even minor waves, so it needs to stick to rivers and the inland lake. (National Effort)

Problems:
Armor was scrapped after its addition nearly sunk the boat.
Screw Propellers would not provide enough force to be able to push the boat.

Tech Gained:
Paddle Wheel Boat [Expensive]
Steam Engine [Expensive]

You reached a bit far with your design.  Even without your rolls being a bit on the bad side, the fact screw propellers weren't used on a ship til 1824 (44 years from now), and at this point the only ship that had a steam engine put on it wound up sinking gave you a couple penalties.  Not so much with the engine as one does crop up in 3 years in France that works...though it failed after 15 minutes.  Well look at it this way, you have something to put on the inland lake.  Anyway...

You have now entered the Revision Phase.
You may revise any piece of technology you have, to a reasonable degree.  For example, you cannot turn the Brown Bess into an Air Rifle, but you can upscale the shot to make a higher caliber musket.

We should improvise out current ships so they have a stronger hull.
