Ughhhh dead again, with a HeIE, this time to a god damn Shrike in the Depths, just when I was nearly getting Glaciate online.

Why are there so many god damn shitmongering enemies in this stupid game!?!? That's it, I'm done with casters. Fuck casters.

Finally won with my VpEn! Decided to just go for three runes since A) I can't hex all the demons/mummies in extended and B) playing enchanter takes me so long because I hit the keys very slowly, as if that helped my vampire sneak in the game. I probably could have tackled extended since I had all the top-tier summoning spells (including dragon's call, which is awesome btw), but it would have required skilling up a decent weapon or some conjurations or wearing better armor, none of which I felt like doing. This was the first game I really made use of Gozag, and I'm pretty ambivalent about him; the armor and jewellery shops are a really good source of resists and friendly orbs of fire and ancient liches on Zot:5 were nice, and I explained upthread how I tried to deal with Gozag's hunger conduct, but I can't help feeling that Kiku or maybe Sif would have been more useful in the long run.

oh god the tournament ends soon and i still only have one win

I guess this means its time to break out the SpEns, GrFEs and maybe even a MiFi if I'm feeling particularly desperate. Still salty about losing that HEFE to absurdly bad luck.

Bah - I finally manage to get a rune with a character again, and what do I do? Immediately (like, within 400 turns) splat him going for the second.

A crying shame too, as I doubt I'll find an amulet as sweet as this again any time soon: amulet "Tyfu Wul" {rMut rPois rF+ Str+2}

We're number 7 now! And I got 200 points for streaking! Okawaru's first gift was an artifact crystal plate armor; everything else was like +2 flails or ring mails of rPois. I had to enchant the eveningstar up from +1, i think.

Swamp is relatively easy. All you need is poison resistence and a hydra-buster.

Cool, but wouldn't this likely lead to tongues having a '[SPEACH]' tag, and thus via necromancy we would have nearly unkillable reanimated tongues following necromancers spamming 'it is sad but not unexpected'?

To be fair Spider should be renamed to Satan's Asshole, because it is the most tedious, horrible and spider-filled branch.

Edit: I'm currently on 2 runes with my HaAm, but this is it - live or die, it's my last game, this tournament has been rather exhausting. After this I wanna do a master blaster caster, but it's gonna be offline, and in a version that still has Black Hole in it.

I really wanted to 15-rune a Statueform user of Chei, but I felt my human was too squishy, and didn't really feel like running another 50 octopodes to get one going.

The fucking SHOALS are my nemesis branch. I've gotten them EVERY. SINGLE. TIME thus far. I hate them and their shallow water everywhere and their irrestistable drowning damage and their merfolk poking you all day long. Unless you're a gargoyle in which case you're doing a stony little chuckle as you breeze through them.



So I guess I'll have only got one win. And my last-minute MiGl of Makhleb seemed so promising[Have I mentioned I hate the Shoals?].

Well my incredible steam rolling HEIE killed himself, so thats probably the stupidest death like, ever.

I had cleared Depths and V1-4 just casting conjure ball lightning most of the time, and gotten used to doing so in pretty confined spaces, and just taking the HP hit, keeping regen up, not actually taking much damage from enemies. Tornado was online, 1%, everything was groovy, took on the Crypt.

1st curse skull took two casts of CBL to go down, so thats what I did for the second, cruising on auto pilot. But the second cursed skull double tormented me whilst I was heedlessly casting CBL, and it was a bit too close to me. So I got to watch in horror as my HP fell below zero one exploding ball lightning at a time.... two CBL casts was like, at least 8 balls at that point, due to air staff, archmage robe and high air skill.

Horribly stupid death, when I could have used lightning bolt, or retreated into some space and cast tornado, or just taken a few steps back before unleashing the electrical fury. Urgh.

Tournament's over now, no? Looks like we finished in 7th. I wish had time for one more win (nobody did a Trog game, lol!) but I was travelling Friday night until this morning.
