Well. This attempt succeeds....in coating it for about three seconds.

Sandra's breathing is audible, shallow and slightly shaky.

...Alanis reaches over and gently places her hand on Sandra's (through the bedsheets, probably), channeling some much-needed calm through her pendant.

One of her tentacles snakes out and lightly brushes against Alanis' leg. Then it retreats back into the bed and Sandra continues hiding.

Ian is much harder to remove from the room than that, bordering on impossible due to his semblance. In the end he practically drags Alanis along as he hands Sandra a baked potato with a smile.
