"You might need to hear a few jokes..."
"But yes, this sort of thing is what I do for a living. Reporting news, not talking about dams."

"..Most definitely."
"What sort of news?"

"Mhm."
"I write about the newest technology. Subjects like more advanced versions of your suit, or the newest phone.

When I don't write about that, I write about superheroes. As in, real life heroes, with superpowers."

[SOLDIER First]

"Indeed."
"I've heard about Pre-War superheroes. They could fly, and shoot lasers, and they all got their powers from radiation.
...Kind of stupid, that last part.."

*making out noises*"So.....did anything else happen?"
"You'd be surprised."

[SOLDIER First]

"I was set on fire by the second coming of Bisnif, then put out, then put out a second time because I wanted said second coming to leave, which Tournaline did not agree with." she says, completely deadpan.
"Well, I suppose being a ghoul is better than just dying of radiation poisoning."

"A ghoul? Isn't that some sort of zombie? And no, they just get the superpowers. They don't get turned into....zombies. Most of the time."

[SOLDIER First]

"An excellent time, really."
"Yes, actually. But they're rare cases. Usually you end up going feral and being an actual zombie. The ones that don't are.. pretty widely mistreated. And their noses and ears fall off. And most of their hair goes away, their voices are raspy, all their skin rots... On the bright side, they live effectively forever, and don't have to worry about radiation any more."

".....wait, Bisnif?"
Penelope frowns.
"That....sounds horrifying."

[SOLDIER First]

"I meant to say "most likely insane mage who screamed at me about cheese, covered me in grease and set me on fire", but I suppose they're interchangeable at this point."
"I guess, but it doesn't bother me too much. They're just people.. Mostly."

Mio groans.
"Fair enough, but the process must be painful...."

[SOLDIER First]

"I would have had him thrown off the ship or quite possibly worse, but Tourmaline brought him somewhere instead."
"Maybe, at first. I've heard of ghouls surviving the first blasts of the War. Could you imagine? Two hundred years..."

"Does she not remember that Bisnif did attempt to kill us all?"
"Two hundred years.......good god. Do you know any of them?"

[SOLDIER First]

"I hope."
"Ordinary ghouls, yes."
