"It sounds more like they're forced to, and there are still unknown limitations! ^__^ Otherwise, they should be winning much more easily. A single blackhole appearing here would devour the world and none of us could stop it, and I don't see any. Or maybe it's like a virus? It's just a swarm of copies, many flawed, but a few lucky ones can spread to another world and make more. A few lucky ones that, if stopped, will avert a whole war. And even if they could adapt to the universe, since everyone's own powers work, their adaptations might make them more vulnerable to things that aren't in that world. Things that they'd have no reason to adapt to."

"Both of those theories imply that there's some sort of force controlling the Vertex, or at the very least a source. What if these are just the scouts or the footsoldiers? What if there's something more? This could just be an expeditionary force for all we know."

Mio stands up at the head of the table.
"Alright. Everyone here, do we know what we're facing?"

"I think so. Do we know anything else beyond big monsters like the last one that will transport us to a modified plane to fight?"

"That modified plane is the Jukai, the shield that protects the prefecture from the Vertex incursions. We know they will likely head directly for the Shinju tree or the ship.

There might be a legion of undetected smaller Vertex that come in with the detected large ones, so be prepared regardless."
