Dackly and Gozer pick a patch of land that isn't near everything else and begin a little project, Involving a really big hole filled with stone spikes and a permenant gravity well.  The hole should be square shaped, about 100 Meters in length, and 25 Meters deep.

While this is happening, they also alter the Phazon cannon, Stripping the auraxium off the shells, and replacing it with Heavy ice, the Auraxium scrap is then used to line the pit's spikes

They take as long as needed to make the pit and upgrades, singing a merry song and attempting to convince others to join in preparation for their dastardly plan.

Ian begins setting the coffee out. If anyone cared to look, they'd see that each of their names are on one of the cups.

Sachi helps distribute the coffees. Outside the window, anyone in the living room can see Mio's friends piling in.

Aesford is playing a game of domino's with Boxwood. Hr's sitting, hunched over, elbows buried into his knees and his hands intertwined over his mouth; it's a pose that suggests great pondering.

"Boxy, hypothetically consider the implication that one of those Vertex creatures are assaulting our location today, but teleporting our collective membership into an anatomical field in order to do battle."

"That's how it sometimes works in my world. Question would be if the laws of physics in that field are the same. Sometimes, the creatures we fought needed those fields to live, and those same fields could rob a normal person of their life >__<"

"Judging by the survival of the veterans on this team who've survived thus far, I doubt that the actual environment alone is enough to kill anyone, to the extent you could call any of us a normal person. During that last time we fought the Vertex, could you sense anything off about the space where we fought them, beyond the fact that everything looked like an acid trip?"

Aesford flips a 2-4 domino piece onto the end of a long chain.

"No, so I guess it is safe. To us at least. And they even had the home ground advantage that time. As for the space itself, no sorry, my current Vessel is meant to be expendable and deployed in large numbers so it doesn't come with any fancy sensors >__<

But it would be strange for them to target us. They want to kill that Shinju unit, right? So why go after us if we'll be leaving anyway? I get that the puppeteers behind this probably hate us, but the ones the Vertices answer to are more concerned with killing the people here. So it'd make sense for them to try and attack the linchpin directly. So unless this a diversion, or the things coming aren't normal Vertices..."
