Considering that the shrine is in fact an urban area surrounded by a road on the other side and two houses to the left, there's probably no point in looking for woods.
Not that that matters. Alanis checks her texts and, well....she can judge for herself.
From: Sachi H.
RE: My sister.
Alanis has but moments to ponder how Sachi's name got onto her contacts list before the message's body jumps out at her. The contents immediately surprise her.
The address is familiar, as is the name of Sachi's sister; the familiarity suddenly comes back to her. Alanis finally remembers who Sachi resembles as she reads the name once, then twice to confirm it. Suddenly, her insane guesses seem far less insane. Suddenly, it all clicks in Alanis' head.
Mio Honda.
The address maps specifically to Mio's house. The name, unmistakably, says Mio Honda. There is only one conclusion.
Before he can say anything to Mio, however, Hikari speaks up as the phones of the Hero Club members go off.
"F-Forestize Warning? What the-!"
"Everyone! Get read-"
Everyone at the shrine is consumed by a bright light and a whoosh, blinding them entirely to their surroundings.
Unknown Phase
The Jukai
When everyone stops being momentarily blinded, their vision slowly fades in to see that they stand in the Jukai, the barrier between the outside world and Kamogawa. If they look around, Mio and Sora are missing; only Hikari of the three is present, staring at something just out of vision for now.
The landscape is as psychedelic as always, almost entirely dominated by roots of all shapes, colours and sizes, with the giant Shinju tree behind the group. There is only one thing of notice, as everyone slowly looks towards where Hikari is staring.
A giant, jagged gash in the Jukai, directly in front of them, inches in the air off where Hikari is standing.
Beyond, a corridor of swirling flame leading into the distance can be seen, leading to some unknowable doom. Somehow, you feel something about this corridor, about this gash, is wrong.
