Because of course. Of fucking course. Put enough idiots on typwriters and you'll get something partially correct eventually, and it just so happened, that when they eventually drunkenly stumbled onto a script that mimicked our job by sheer dumb luck, emphasis on dumb, it was meant to appeal to little girls with no marketable skills at all, let alone any combat training.

Well, for the most part. I do know at least one colleague who has a wider range of Conservators. Crow they call him. He recruits the sick, the crippled, the dying. Usually just the dying. A bit too honest to recruit anyone else really. It's not that he's a bad liar, it's more that he's a bad conman. Sure, he can lie to your face like no-one's business, but keeping each blatant lie from contradicting is a bit too much effort for him. So instead of that, he relies on something else, a promise of sorts, one of the only real promises you can keep in this business - a quick death. He'll pull the trigger himself if need be, and he has.
