My point is that shipping doesn't quite do that since there are more nuances that it fails to express and even then you'd only really ought to consider your own character's ships not other ships that represent the thoughts of other characters.

Basically, as soon as they parried their foe, they went into their menu and switched out all their gear to match that of the "Giant Dad" so quickly their foe hadn't recovered by the time it was over, allowing them to perform a riposte.

Though normally it's to switch out to weapons and rings to maximize the damage of the riposte rather than as a taunt of sorts.

Well... you've still got another character slot, so you could always make someone whose gimmick is to just parry attacks and switch out their equipment in improbable ways before delivering the riposte (so mechanically speaking, a swiss army knife character like pre-nerf Alanis, balanced by the fact that they need to land a parry successfully to activate any of their abilities). Like suddenly getting into a Left Shark costume. Or running over to the nearest main battle tank, hijacking it, and delivering the riposte in the form of a hit and run (yes even in worlds where those don't even exist).

If you do run such a character, you could have one of their attacks switch out their weapon for Idou so that they bludgeon their foe using Idou, while Idou and Mint Gale also attack the foe

Or I suppose you could just arrange for a plot to give Garnt a road roller as an autoleveling weapon that has the drawback of only being usable for Risposte in exchange for greater damage, and exploit his Quick Switch passive to let him switch it in on Parry.
