EDIT: For Posterity:

An Opposed Roll is a roll against a target. It can be for resisting damage, nullifying an effect, crafting, or anything else necessary. To roll an Opposed, You roll 3d6+STAT+Bonus VS a targets own roll. If the GM states two stats that will be used, They are what is used in this Instance of action.

It's not that everyone hates you. and besides, As I said, This particular instance, It's Syn vs RES. This one time will be that. Other times will be like, Syn vs Syn or something *shrugs* also, put more fluff onto your actions so we get a better idea of what they can do. Fluff is important if mechanically useless~
