I THOUGHT it was roll to hit (offense stat v. DEX) and then roll damage based on 1d(6,8,10,etc.)+stat (minus RES.)

And then it was something with opposed rolls, which I saw being made.  In one of Elf's posts, even.

And now I'm not even sure.

Here's my take.

The only opposed stat covered is accuracy for the rare occasions it's needed. Could probably be easily modified for something like ailment chance.
The " stat + 3d6+ bonuses" thing is for stuff like crafting rolls.
Damage is (Weapon Damage Roll + Relevant Stat + Bonuses).
