The possibility that a particular hypothetical future boss won't be immune does not justify letting abilities through, without comment, if most sane GMs would sheet up a generic, major boss to be immune to that particular ability.

It does if it can't be assumed.

And anyway, why the HELL would someone assume that the most common boss immunities would NOT be protected against? I shouldn't even be HAVING to tell people what most video games logically say is a big no-no.

There is an easy, absolutely easy way to tell that D&G are permanently screwed for the entire game because of their fundamental aspects.
They get statues for killing minions
They need statues to do anything that isn't Trump Cards or worthless.
They have 3.
Their trump card skills are TAILOR MADE for when I cannot fight mooks to get statues to actually play the game.

So let me reiterate,

D&G fight mooks in between bosses, giving them statues to grow stronger and get more health and abilities.  seems fair right?
if they don't have mooks, and aren't fighting mooks, they have a skill designed to do more damage to stronger enemies, seems clever and reasonable right?
If that does not work, they also have a flat stun, which allows them to help by debuffing foes, and a poison bite, as a cutesy sort of not-damage.
But not only are there no mooks, nor have there ever been mooks, but the only statues D&G have gotten were Bisnif's, and some fish.
Even though they don't have statues, they ar being forced to fight bosses, which their damage skill does not affect, their stun does not affect, and what do you know? their poison will not effect, because they are eldritch beings, who are immune to poison.

Did I mention Petrify's backstory is because Dackly is blessed by the World to fight tresspassers, which is also why Gozer follows her, and why her powers do not function like a normal medusa?  That's right, her powers are reality warping for a reason.

Tell you what, Just kill off either Dackly or Gozer, i do not care which, and i will rewrite Dackly's sheet as Gozer being absorbed by her, as was the plan originally, with a completely scrapped ability sheet to work with a game that is 99% bosses, 1% mooks, and I'm not guarenteed to encoutnter them.

Dackly isn't screwed out of half the game, you get a precious plot point, and Me? I get to actually have fun.

I cannot play someone whose entire repertoire is Useless Useful spells.

If you don't want to read the rant, TLDR: I haven't been having fun with the game, because I feel like my character his the least useful one in the game right now, due to there only having been 2 instances of them doing well in combat, as opposed to everyone else, and a lack of successful crafting to mitigate their all encompassing weakness.

Take a good look at Sandra. She's one of my favourite characters and she's doing jack-all in combat.

Speaking of, is she gonna stop that at some point? We kind of really need healing.

@Shadestyle: Frankly, I don't plan to plan for D&G's abilities if I ever run a plot.  This doesn't mean they won't run into immunities every so often, but they will be visibly IC immunities.

@Elf:Then pick some standard!  You said video game bosses!  Use those!

I'm not saying that we should expect warnings on all abilities with stuns.  I'm saying that if you think your average boss would be immune to it (a perfectly generic major endplot (or video game) boss, not any particular boss), you should say something.

And "most common boss immunities" is not automatically "percentage-based damage."

The game itself is about exploration, Shipping, Battles with mysterious monsters, and most importantly, Fun. If you don't have fun, You should tell the us so that we can rectify it and have you have fun again.

I shouldn't be having to give warnings to things that are common sense, TBF. Use your logic.

Does a boss that is instantly petrified make for a fun fight? No.
Does a boss that is chunked for huge percentages of health with no chance of blocking said damage make for a fun fight? No.
Does a boss vulnerable to an instant death spell make for a fun fight? Absolutely not.
Would a boss that was stunnable make for a good fight? Definitely not.

Need I go on? No.

As it is, this argument has come far enough. If anyone wants to continue discussing it, take it up with Sanure or myself over Steam or PMs.

My issue is with Adragis telling someone to look at her own character because they're not having fun playing one percieved as useless, which is unhelpful advice. It probably didn't come off that way. My bad.
I'm sorry you aren't enjoying yourself, but I don't have anything to suggest on the matter.

Also, remember when we talked about getting a list of basic status ailments? Ideas. Not sure what the roll would be to inflict the status effect, though.

Stun: The enemy misses their next action. Can only be inflicted once every four turns.

Poison: 1d6+(Syn/2) damage for (Level/2) turns.

Freeze: If initiative is being used, the enemy is moved to the last part of the turn order.

Paralyze: While under the effects of paralysis, the enemy has to roll (something). If they fail, they miss their turn. Ailment lasts (level/2) turns.

Chained: The afflicted cannot use melee skills or melee-type basic attack. Lasts (level/2) turns.

Jammed: The afflicted cannot use ranged skills or ranged-type basic attacks. Lasts (level/2) turns.

Silenced: The afflicted cannot use magic skills or magic-type basic attacks. Lasts (level/2) turns.

Sleep: The character cannot act until either hit with an attack or the duration of the ailment has passed. They cannot act the same turn they wake up. Level/2 turns.

Confused: Roll a d6 for every turn the effect is active; on a 5 or 6, the afflicted can act as normal. On a 3 or 4, they attack their allies, or fail to act if they have none. On a 1 or 2, they attack themselves.

It looks all in order, aside the free action gain, to which I'd say that you should increase the wait time by another turn. Just ask San to have a look.
