well I think lightsabers are more "fuck, they have plasma swords, give all the non-grunts lightsabers too so the other guys don't slaughter them" but i'd imagine if you get a clean cut through their arm they aren't gonna be able to do much to stop you from the pain

And there are plenty of weapons that work pretty well at penetrating armor that also kill more efficiently. Well, not in their universe of course, because apparently everyone decided that relying entirely on weapons that can be deflected was a great idea and should be the cornerstone of all combat.

Instead of things like mustard gas, IEDs and proper artillery.
