Actually, nothing in game states that they can't survive off world, They live on an earth like planet that only has one exception, which is the overproduction of oxygen, They are seen doing just fine in the Pikmin short movies, when in the same room as a helmet-less Olimar, meaning that they can survive without the high levels of oxygen that their planet is known for, and it implies that they are plants as well, and just require a small concentration of carbon dioxide, water, a small portion of soil and nutrients.

I am keeping my answer.
