Well it would certainly teach me a lesson if the dominant potentially dangerous material in the tutorial used by numerous beings and items turned out to be Shmuck bait that was a hard wall TPK, I guess.

Of course its Schmuck bait, Why else would the GM(s) Give it to us? Not like it does much else other than explode, And you'd need to be an Idiot to find a real use for it...

Because things other than exploding was done with it both in Metroid, and in this game?  and that Small leaps and bounds have been discovered about it constantly, even in character, such as that the crystals are irredeemably volatile, the liquid and gases are highly acidic, the crystal does not play nice with anything, and things can contain energy from it, even without special sciences, the crystals harm skin but not other objects on contact, including fragile ones like synthetic cotton and fabric, it is radioactive, but even the GM said it would make Dackly uncomfortable, rather than that it would directly harm her immediately, A material is capable of being produced from it tha is neither inherently deadly, and is very very stable, there are means by which it's energy can be harnessed, Pirates know these methods, and From Gozer, We know that it is magically pure poison, a factor which has been very carefully taken note of and acted on.

It is a great depiction of scientific progression, with a fair amount of obstacles and pitfalls, it just takes careful learning and attempts, if what I have seen so far is any indicator..

And that besides, D&G are a special kind of idiot, both Naive and Stubborn, the most dangerous and powerful kind of idiot.

Actually, Alan's perk would probably activate in the case of too much magic being pumped in.
 


But seriously, trying to kill Alan by force-feeding him magic probably isn't going to work unless you have a lot more magic than he does.

Ironically, D&G seem to be tailor made for that exact situation.

Except they wouldn't, in character. and would probably at worst put them in Statue Jail as Gozers's new arms. until they broke out.

There is no sourcerer here.  Be glad there isn't.
Alan is most certainly not Bisnif, nor does one need countermeasures of Bisnif levels to deal with him. 
Just don't keep him on edge and without a safe place against which to ground his magic for extended periods of time, as that is like disabling all the safeties on a water heater and leaving it to boil.
Whereas Bisnif is more of a lot of little explosives going off all the time.
