...the thing is, I don't see WHY we need a leader. The characters have done just fine so far without one, and giving one player authority over others, even if it doesn't necessarily have to be obeyed, seems... dumb.

And we, as Alanis said, aren't a party. We're just a bunch of misfits brought together by some random power that proceeded to fuck off and not tell us anything.
