Less versatile stuff should be more powerful in their niche to compensate.

Less consistent stuff (such as having a single massive die rather than several smaller ones) should be more powerful to compensate.
Weapons that autolevel by increasing stat bonuses (so basically all autoleveling weapons in existence) are versatile (stats have more applications than just damage).

Weapons that autolevel by increasing dice count (what Fish wants 6AR's weapon to be) aren't as versatile but are more consistent (the more dice you have, the more likely you are to roll a mid number rather than something very high or low).

Weapons that autolevel by increasing die size (what Murdoc wants Haruka's weapon to be) aren't as versatile, and aren't as consistent (they'd only raise the innate maximum damage, not the minimum).
Fish wants (2+Level)d2 as 6AR's weapon damage. That means it gains 1.5 damage per Level, compared to the 1 STR per Level of Mio's Gauntlets. The damage is also far more centered that that of Mio's Gauntlets.

Is that acceptable? Too powerful? Too weak?

No I did not, it wasn't in their sheet description as far as I know. So it increases both Dice Size and STR Bonus? In that case, Fish's proposal of +1d2 per Level is definitely too low.

Yeah. All levelling weapons increase damage die. That was the main reason to HAVE levelling weapons. Otherwise you could just discard your current weapon and get a new one from loot or crafting.

Well, Mio's went something like this:
L1: 1d8
L2: 1d10
L3: 1d12
L4: 1d14
L5: 1d16
L6: 1d18

That stat bonus was gained from an upgrade slot.

Raising the base damage won't help. Gauntlets get +2 damage on average (specifically, +2 Die Size, +1 STR Bonus) versus your +1.5 damage.

I don't believe so. Main drawback of autoleveling weapons is specifically that you can't customize and upgrade them to your preferences. Hero Weapons only gain upgrades through a Perk, and that requires them to burn Action Points or Perk Slots to get them.

For starters, all their slots including their secondary, and armor slots, are empty. So you've got plenty of options for another item, not to mention being able to get a second auto-leveling item.
