And while I'm at it, I'd like to make Force Push multi-targeting because it is a l3 ability.

now i don't actually have an issue with the scaling weapon, moreso the lack of scaling everyone else gets if you decide to do that

Plus we really should have more variety in damage dice, e.g. a lightsaber does really consistent damage so it should have, say, 3d5 compared to Haruka's 1d16. The latter can hit higher numbers but it won't do the same kind of consistent damage as the lightsaber (average 9 vs average 8.5), though this would require a little rescaling of weapons overall. my thoughts would be:
piercing-type weapons have one high die (single-shot guns included)
slashing weapons should have a couple smaller dice (i'd put stuff like flamethrowers and such in here)
blunt weapons should have a bunch of tiny damage dice (along with rapidfire guns)

this'd obviously be a case-by-case thing and a lot of work but eh
An addendum to the above would be erring toward smaller numbers of big dice for physical attacks and higher numbers of smaller dice for energy. In a lot of cases you'd have something like attack rate making the lighter weapons do more comparable damage over time to the heavier ones, but turn-based mucks with that
i'd actually lean toward scaling your number of dice up per level in the lightsaber's case, though that might just be my personal preference for lots of little dice (consistency is great). Plus 3d(2+level) is 3d8 right now which is a gargantuan improvement over the current d14. I'd say maybe like, 4d(1+LV/2) might be reasonable, rounded down ofc. It really depends on what we want to consider fair or not; e.g. do we want everyone to have similar average values? should the weapons with bigger dice have a higher average to compensate for their lower consistency? etc.

ideally it'd also be more than just me and you discussing this too

No, I believe what Murdoc is saying is that the dice number, not the dice size should scale. The idea is that the something like 6AR's weapon would be dealing consistent damage (since it's an energy weapon that cauterizes wounds, so it's not exactly going to make people bleed everywhere with a hit to the right part, but it's also going to hurt even on a glancing blow or graze), meaning it would have a large number of smaller dice since that will make its distribution closer to a normal distribution rather than a uniform distribution.

Considering that the military still supported him through all that, I think the obvious option to go to that universe and recruit all his PR people.

As far as I can tell, autolevel weapons usually just gain +1 to an offensive stat bonus per level. So adding dice size or quantity will need new precedents and guidelines

What will need to be determined is an exchange rate of sorts between stat bonuses, dice bonuses, and size bonuses. Because something that alters the dice would have to give a greater boost, as it's only useful for damage, whilst a STR boost also helps saving and competing rolls, a DEX boost increases initiative, and a SYN boost can help stat-scaling buffs and debuffs.

Furthermore, additional bonuses need to be applied to take reliability into account. With a stat bonus, your rolls is guaranteed to be X higher assuming the stat isn't buffed or debuffed. With a dice bonus your rolls will be X*m higher, where m is the lowest roll possible on each die (so effectively X, since m is usually 1), but you're also making the rolls more consistent as the result's distribution approaches that of a normal distribution. With a size bonus, there's no real guarantee, you'll probably deal more damage on average, but your minimum roll will be the same, and it'll be a uniform distribution, which makes it more likely to roll really well, but also really poorly.

Let's use Mio's gauntlets, ignoring Fairy Upgrades (those are extrinsic rather than intrinsic effects) as a rough estimate.

Level 6 Gauntlets: Mean of 15.5, SD of 5.19
Level 12 Gauntlets: Mean of 21.5, SD of 5.19
Level 18 Gauntlets: Mean of 27.5, SD of 5.19
Level 24 Gauntlets: Mean of 33.5, SD of 5.19

Level 6 Proposal: Mean of 12, SD of 1.41
Level 12 Proposal: Mean of 21, SD of 1.87
Level 18 Proposal: Mean of 30, SD of 2.24
Level 24 Proposal: Mean of 39, SD of 2.55

Well, it's scaling faster. And is more consistent. Because of how small the dice size is, it's SD is actually growing with levels, meaning it gets slightly less consistent as time goes on, but that drop decreases as well and it's still more consistent than the Gauntlets.

Elf's call on this. It's obviously gaining 1.5 on average per Level versus the 1 of the Gauntlets, but is also doesn't contribute anything to actual stats which have purposes beyond damage rolls.

And Elf's run away :P

Also, halving Pure might violate its entire raison d'être. Also not sure if duplicate passives are allowed, also you're using a system that is about to be rehauled.
