It's not the number of summons, it's the summons-per-turn?

Also, I have this strange urge to reflavor Alanis as a summoner-type.  By which I mean replace her abilities with summons.

Summons per turn being the determining factor would unquestionably be broken as fuck in this case, since that'd basically be that same PC and a half, except potentially every turn if she spammed Gamble.

Maybe there should be some sort of penalty if there are multiple summons (as in individual critters) called within a single action?

You're capped anyway, considering that eventually all your summons will be weak as hell. Also, Sanure and I could just veto it if it's that powerful.

Speaking of GM vetos, all the PCs seem to be at least vaguely humanoid thus far, is there a rule against magical beasts? I have a couple half-baked ideas for secondary/backup characters rolling around and I'm not sure which one I want to develop.

No rule against it, although it would be nice if your character was capable of communicating with the other PCs.
also, humanoids are easier to ship

I've also somewhat completed the Bestiary for now and am working on adding a recap section to the revised OP before I give it to San.

Well, here are the three ideas I have:
-A blue dragon. Probably with at least a little magical talent for the purposes of being humanoid when needed.
-A vaguely dragon-shaped sentient mass of energy that would probably communicate via telepathy.
-Guy who basically just blinks all over and slices/stabs people.

Chartre ain't gonna respond to anyone who doesn't react to him first, so I dunno if you're gonna have a lot of luck with Sachi; I'm just giving the more paranoid members a chance to jump on him before he makes it out to get drunk :V

(Also, to tell the truth, it's really difficult to RP with Sachi because getting a meaningful reply out of her is like trying to get blood out of a stone -- she's so nervous and apologetic she's hard to talk to.)

The cap is based on your stat cap and the number of things you can summon.

Yes, there is a cap. It's the same cap as the PCs have. Even for Minions.
