They don't invite in grief, really, not by themselves. The life of a magical girl itself is what drives the girls to despair; having to constantly fight eldritch abominations, worrying about their own lives, becoming increasingly cut off from everyone around them because they have to keep hunting down witches or they'll run out of power (as far as they know), not to mention the emotional shocks suffered when, say, your best friend blows their brains out because of a witch, or a friendly magical girl is messily disemboweled by one, or discovering that you're actually a lich. It's not the power by itself in a vacuum. Much like the Force, by itself it's neither good nor evil.

I think it's the metaknowledge stuff that's the problem more than the actual exact factuality, really, because it takes a lot of meaning out of the home-universe aspects of someone's character when another character who isn't even from their home universe can suddenly pinpoint their problems in a way that's taken the characters of that universe a lot of strife to figure out. If the factuality isn't there, that makes it just a bit more infuriating.

The analogy I would use here is if 6AR walked by a bit of uranium and detected it as evil. Uranium does bad things when left by itself and can be used to create widespread devastation, but it's ultimately just a lump of metal.

If the uranium was to be used as a bomb...

Are you to say that a weapon is inherently evil? Surely if a nuclear bomb, something that is often more a deterrent, something that exists to protect through the threat of pitiless retaliation is classified as evil, surely 6AR's own weapons would be classified as such? It's a directed thermal weapon designed specifically to harm others, wielded by a robot created specifically for war, surely that would be even more evil by such standards.

A thermonuclear weapon, at the very least, may be used as a merciless protector. A blade that burns its victims, maiming them blow by blow, doesn't even have that going for it.
