all they need to do is make it so that most of the time she can't shoot someone without killing them and not expect to have that person cross the distance between them and then decapitate her the turn right after hers

I wondering less about Simuna and more about what compensation melee attacks get for having more limited range.

Oh, and, let me guess, movement range scales with DEX?

Seriously though, someone in the RWBY plot who isn't in the middle of shipping providing emotional support go check on Orchid so we can make sure the exposition lady doesn't die.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

Before being shot to death with rock salt by a stereotypical old redneck yelling at the damn eldritch monstrosities to get off his property and replacing Orchid as the exposition NPC :P

No, and this isn't Fire Emblem. Unless the GMs literally ripped out the mechanics from it and melded it with the stat system.

It wouldn't be difficult to do.

I'm more interested in how grid-based combat is usually handled since I couldn't find any rules in this thread on range assignments, melee compensation or movement rules for it.

That's because, aside PN's plot which used it for some unfathomable reason, there isn't any. This game isn't meant to be played with grid-style combat. >_>

I mean....it could, but I don't see why, except if you were interested in doing an FE-esque or whatever combat, in which case I'd be asking what you're doing here and not in one of the many, many FEFs there are. Or for that matter, pestering USEC for his systems since he also likes doing these kinds of things. :P

To be fair, most FEFs close up very, very fast.

Yeah, I was thinking it wouldn't work too well, but then I started seeing mentions of grid-based combat on a few sheets (namely Fleshlance and Furor Gauntlets) and got rather confused.

Wait, what does RES do again? I know that it's flat damage reduction, but does it do anything else that isn't listed in the OP?

Seeing as CON is needed to resist certain "save-or-suffer" effects and can be used as an attacking stat, DEX also can cover dodging and damage reduction via Perks or Passives, INT can be used for resisting "save-or-suffer" effects along with inflicting debuffs and status effects, STR is also used for "save-or-suffer" effects, and SYN handles some kinds of buffs as well.

Close as in the slots are all taken up. I know because I'm in at least four active ones right now.
