Ouch! But at least we all survived and I stayed true to my name. Even did pretty decent damage at the beginning.

You should have had control of the battlefield, as more than half of the defenders were beaten. ;)

You only gain control if you win (Or at least that's my interpretation).

Depends on the task imo, but here definitly, as otherwise there would be no point in having to bring one unit to the other side.

I really like it when I have control of the ally, as I usually use that one for the task.

To me controlling the battlefield pretty much means... you can do scavenging for example.

You control it at the end :P and yeah most missions it makes sense why if you win you control it. They are retreating afterall.

Yeah, but for recon raids it makes sense that even if you accomplish your mission, you don't control the battlefield (unless you wipe out the opposition). Your goal is to get in, get intel, and get out.

For some mission types, it does state that if you destroy over 50% of the enemy, you control the battlefield. But recon raids are not among those. That's why I just use a couple of fast light mechs to do the mission, and use the rest of my forces as a distraction, while staying close to the map edge to flee as necessary.

Even better if you can roll a mission like this at night and have some fast jumpers like Spiders. The enemy will be moving 2-4 hexes a turn because of the environment, while you can still jump a full 8 every turn.

The formating is wonky, but you can see that he was kicked, and that damage is added together with the actual weapons used on him. He didn't just spontaneously implode or anything!

Oh dear! Just how low can our rating go before we're canned?
Hopefully the next few missions end up  better for us?  :)

I think at -10 they are just like "get out!"

Don't worry guys, we're in the early days of the contract, with a few months to turn it around. Though if we go pirate, at least we get to keep all the salvage. :P

Doesn't the game currently not know how to handle pirate matey?

The player can fudge it, but the system is indeed not designed to accommodate it yet.  Specifically, the Dragoon rating remains whatever is appropriate for the unit rather than locking at F.

It'd mean a hell of a lot more work for me indeed, as basically the entire AtB ruleset cuts out, and I'd have to hand roll everything. It'd slow down the posting as I'd play less often due to the aggravation of it all.

If they ever do implement the nobility or pirate subsets, we'll see about getting ourselves some land or going rogue as appropriate. :)
