In a game with Criticals and RNG, there is no such thing as a Guaranteed anything.  What if the underdog gets a couple of Head Criticals?  Or Ammo Criticals?

But yeah, some battles just aren't worth fighting for the player.

That is one really nice feature that you can tweak the experience to your preference. That battle where I have 20k BV against 10 vees? Thanks, I'd like to spend my time in another fashion.
Last battle was kinda fun, 15k BV (including the air support that arrived in turn 4) against 11k. Lost a Rifleman 3C to engine crits early on, but it can be repaired and the pilot made it out unscathed. Hunchback 4G and Stalker 4N took quite a beating. But we managed to down enough of them (10) to win without another loss.
I love the Hunchback, it can take a beating and still deliver a lot of damage. The 4P even more so than the 4G. It doesn't fit with my medium lances, because those are all jump capable Mechs with a bit more speed, but it doesn't need to hide behind some of the heavier designs.

I finished making a campaign file that allows you to just outright play this mode of the game with a start up.

Once I get Hanzo's ok that it is functional does anyone want it?

<Yoda>Real life does not a good game make.</Yoda>

True but in a game of dwindling resources sometimes a guaranteed win is really about trying to win without losing too much.

---

Also I think now would be a great time to get Konrad out of his beat up machine...

And put him into one of the blueprinted Konrad Series Mechs

I'm waiting for us to gain a little more reputation before we start producing our own custom mechs, but a !!Strange Mood!! is coming, no worries. :)

Hm... *fiddles*

That would actually be possible, but it involves replacing the engine with an XL model and changing the structure to endosteel, and the heatsinks to double (and removing all the extras).

But you then end up with a Warhammer with a gauss rifle in each arm with two tons of ammo, and for grins, I swapped the SRM-6 for two Streak SRM-2s, and it picks up 1 1/2 much needed extra tons of armor.

Hunch can support Heavy Lances due to its durability, firepower, and relative speed.  The 4G model would even be able to support Assault Lances, but the 4P might not have the solid punch that comes with Assault Lances.

If you replace the PPCs with an AC10 and a Light Gauss, and strip out some lasers to make room, and the now extraneous heatsinks, it's only Class C - Maintenance.  No fiddling with engines/armor/structure.

I kind of like the idea of one weapon being long and the other shorter.  It's like your Warhammer is holding two different guns!

Light Gauss doesn't exist yet I am afraid.

And goodness does it take a bit to upgrade the Warhammer to double Guass

Here is my mod

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It isn't that good >_<

It has its advantages, but I'm a sucker for bilaterial symmetry. The Hunchback II-C makes me happy not just for outputting 80+ damage in one round, but also for being balanced. :P

They forgot the armor though. :P

The 4P can dish out more damage than the 4G, though I love that AC/20 that can make even ruin the day for an assault.
When I started my poor man's assault lance were Hunchbacks and Centurions. The latter has no real place in my setup anymore now.

With your medium and light lances being all Jump Capable, I would think not.  Cents are a medium soldier mech: They march, they fight, they die.  I'd suggest just throwing all your Cents in one lance.  Or upgrade them with Jump Jets.

It's only a Maintenance D task, so your regular techs can do it during most mission types.

Somehow feels lightly armed for a 50-tonner.
