Ah, sweet, I have vet and elite mechtechs. I just pretend they were standing next to the poor green/regular ones who had to do the refit and told them what they did wrong all the damn time. It's not like they have much else to do. They are mostly for the cases when the others fuck up.

If your unit rating is high enough/you have your own dropship you can add one to the facility rating, iirc. But only to a max of maint. facility.

Actually, you only get Maintenance Facility out of contract, based purely on being B rated.  You get Factory out of contract if you are A rated.

In contract, Transport Bays is the max rating, and you can't do refits/customizations.  Well, at least according to the rules.  Personally, I think you totally should be allowed to swap out one weapon for another if you're on a Guerrilla mission and your last Medium Laser gets destroyed.

Also, the rules in the Excel Spreadsheet on acquisitions are not wholly accurate, despite my quoting them.  Specifically, I believe Logistic Admins actually effect the availability during the contract.

Yes, but only on contracts where you have to deploy defending lances, iirc. Fighting/Scouting is an early victory. On garrison it should reset to normal after a month or two without regular battles.

Something else: where do I get the 2.31 rules? I only have the 2.30 and here I don't have permission to download it, even though I registered.

I uploaded the 2.31 rules here, let me know if you have problems downloading them from there.

Three variations on a close-in assault mech. The first one is old inner sphere, the second takes advantage of star league tech. The idea is to be able to fire the entire close in weapons suite and jump its full distance each round without a flicker of heat, while the large lasers give it some long ranged punch if needed.

And a TSM-equipped, hatchet mech. It needs to be adjusted, as I wasn't sure if you were allowed to double-hatchet people (you aren't), but you can do this:

Physical attacks for Rager RGE-1 (12th Bay Hammerers)
Hatchet attack on Guillotine GLT-4L (Princess); needs 7, rolls 11 : hits HD
Guillotine GLT-4L (Princess) takes 28 damage to HD.
            Armor destroyed.
             SECTION DESTROYED.
*** Guillotine GLT-4L (Princess) DESTROYED by damage! ***
Critical hit on HD. Roll is 7; no effect.

Pilot of Guillotine GLT-4L (Princess) "Bernadette Surupa" is already dead, so no damage is dealt!

I like TSM with hatchets.

I uploaded the 2.31 rules here, let me know if you have problems downloading them from there.

Worked like a charm, thank you!

After months of waiting, it paid out. A contract vers. pirates, green/C and 90% salvage rights. And on the way there a Aero pilot sends in his job offer. He is a specialist for Enhanced ER-PPCs. In 3039. What?

He's obviously a Clan deep-cover spy a-la Wolf's Dragoons  ;)

But apparently the ER PPC was reintroduced by the DC in 3037, so perhaps it's valid?

Yeah, but the enhanced one was apparently an in-between model developed by the Clans before they got to the tried and true Clan ER PPC. So yes, sounds like a clan deep cover SPY!

Or he was kicked out of the clans for being dishonorable (doing silly things like tactical retreat, homing missiles, and hitting the enemy with his fist) and created a new identity for himself...

That and for a clan he sucks

I want to see an Aero Pilot punching things with his spaceplane!
Maybe he arrived with the Dragoons and got kicked out.

How do you even get to clan space? On the map it looks like there are not enough planet within 30 ly of each other on the way there.

If you click in the void in between or zoom in really far and you can see the systems used. I haven't looked to see if the whole route is entirely correct, granted.

Uninhabited systems are Black, the same as the background.  It's pretty easy to test, actually.
EDIT: Confirmed that it is possible to go to Clan Space, although the Clans don't seem to offer contracts (which makes total sense).

Sort of... they would probably want to do something else :P

I tried it as well now. And it seems the systems en route have slightly more information about them then the standard IS ones. :D Even though it is usually just "hostile planets" "no planets" or something similar.

That contract with the 90% salvage rights against green enemies with C-equipment? First battle was a base defence, which we won while hardly taking a scratch. 22 vees and 2 light Mechs were the opposition. 2nd battle was an ambush where I lost a Crusader. Then the enemy routed. Um...ok.

I decided to reorganize and found out that my dragoons rating goes up if I only deploy my aerospace assets and two medium lances. Oh well, you guys probably have your reasons...I'll deploy 2 (slightly reinforced) companies anyway, ok? I'd like to deploy my armor, but then the employers would want me to field 7 or 8 lances, and I don't really want that, too much of a hassle. I'd like the armor lances to be on defence or on reinforcement duty (when they are fast) only.

Edit: I have two contracts to choose from:
Circinus Federation   Free Worlds League   Planetary Assault
Free Worlds League   Circinus Federation   Planetary Assault

:D

Different planets, of course. The Circinus Fed. has worse equipment and offer better salave rights, I'll help them.

Of course the Circinus Fed. have better salvage rights, they're basically hiring you to be a Contract Pirate!  Their version of a "Planetary Assault" consists of holding the planet long enough to collect its next Harvest/Production/Taxes/etc.

However, they are a recognized government, so as long as you aren't engaged in constructive atrocities against the local civilians, your reputation will stay intact. And luckily, MekHQ doesn't have a 'torch the local city' button. :P
