Ashes of the Singularity
« on: October 26, 2015, 01:09:13 am »

So it looks like there is a new game from Stardock on the way called Ashes of the Singularity. From the videos it looks a lot like Total Annihilation brought into the modern era with super units, long range artillery/missiles and huge armies fighting across vast maps. I'm pretty excited to see where they go with it although it sounds like it will be a real test for even new systems with some fancy looking graphics and hundreds of units fighting at once. I don't ever really buy games in EA but I will be following development to see if they can deliver on their vision.

If you are more willing to take a gamble with early access it is on steam : http://store.steampowered.com/app/228880/

I've kind of lost faith in Stardock; they make games with good ideas but lackluster and mediocre end result. Elemental and its derivatives and GalCiv III are very bland despite many good ideas behind them.

Looks fairly generic.

Why is "looking over developers shoulder as they "play" a game" such a often used video style? It gives me no intresting information, except that this guy has no hair. This guy has hair. Good for them, I'm sure i'll remember that josh from graphics worked on anti-air unit#02 back then. It really catapulted my choice to buy the game forward. Urg

WTF
System Requirements

    Minimum:
        OS: 64-bit Windows 10 / 8.1 / 7
Processor: Quad-core Intel / AMD Processor
        Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: 2 GB DirectX 11 Compatible Video Card
        DirectX: Version 11

    Recommended:
        OS: 64-bit Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core i7 or Equivalent
        Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: 4 GB DirectX 12 (Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD R9 390 Equivalent) Video Card
        DirectX: Version 12

Why are the sys req so high? The game looks average with very bland unit design (all units look same and fly), and battles are not that massive compared to other rts games (not even close so Supreme Commander numbers). So what am I missing here?

Maybe they're hoping to actually start the singularity on players machines.  :P

They must be crazy. There's no way I'd upgrade for a Stardock game. The only game that's even tempting me to upgrade is the Witcher 3, but the lack of any Enhanced Edition with all the DLC bundled in means I wouldn't buy it yet anyways, and hardware'll have advanced further by the time that's out anyways.
