Iolani was slightly surprised when she heard the clanking behind her but had slowed down some to let the wyvern rider catch up. She grinned up at him.

"Life or death, hmm? Well that sounds like a pretty boring way of looking at things. Sure, there's risk but why let that bother you? You need to learn to relax."

She patted him on the shoulder and continued looking for a place that was selling tomes.

Prince Titon grabbed Iolani's arm but she had a sprinted away.

"Not so fast."

"If I may, sir, what are you planning to do?"

"I wanted to have Iolani, Lian and me of course go arrange a chat with Lord Cafvaden. Well, Sen, given Iolani ran off."

"What!? You want to go to the fortress escorted by no-one but a pair of mercenaries? That's ridiculous!"

"Exactly. My enemies think I will show at the front door of the citadel escorted by nobles' children and army of loyal soldiers. With two strangers at my side, I can attempt to find a proxy and-"

"I don't wanna be rude but if you ask me that is the stupidest idea I've ever heard."

"Trust me. I know what I'm doing. By the way, Odysios, could you visit a nearby inn or two and seek some more mercenaries? Hopefully a bunch of axemen."

"Yeah sure, but don't you go with the stupid plan." With that, he moved down the road, hands in pockets, searching for nearest inn.

"Prince Titon, please re-think that idea." Titon waved his hand at Orena.

---

Odysios didn't look for the inn that long. After all, the nearest one was just half a minute walk ahead. He entered a badly lit room which smelled of beer and ale. Not a greatest place but it was the less reputable ones where he could find poor people looking for poor people's money.

He looked around, seeing various men and women seated in places. Some looked like travelers, some like off-duty soldiers, some as plain cutthroats and blades for hire. Titon wanted axemen... Odysios scratched his chin, noticing a trio of individuals, two with axes and one looking a tad bit uncomfortable about his position. The axemen looked pretty relaxed and not in a rush.

Yup.

"Hey, you guys looking for some work maybe?" Odysios walked up to the table, placing his hands on his waist.

//Cyrus, Titus and Galen Caddell are now in!

---

Iolani found an Enchantress.

"These are my wares. Each masterfully crafted by hand!"

"Hmmph. It's all very well being happy-go-lucky until you end with a lance in the g-"
Iolani patted him on the shoulder and he cut off.
"You- don't pat me on the shoulder!"
He paused for a second to rerail his thoughts.
"Anyway, it's easy to risk your own life, but I have a duty to others, as well. I can relax once this whole business is done. "

Iolani had really only heard the first half of what he was saying since she'd been distracted by their arriving at the shop of an enchantress.

"Hmm, yeah, that must be very difficult. You should take a day off. Now then... Ooo, Elwind, huh? That would be a nice upgrade to my current tome. What do you think? I mean, it's already clear that I'm going to need to stick with you guys for longer than I was planning. I mean, someone needs to teach you how to relax~ So if I'm going to be doing that, I'm going to need something better than just my basic wind tome."

Lizbet couldn't say she was fond of the idea of sending the prince off with only two strangers for company, either.  Most mercenaries were smart enough to honor contracts, but not all were always that bright, and she didn't know these people very well yet.  Worse, if the Lord here had run into the same betrayals as some of their previous contacts, three people alone might not be able to fight out of the castle alone.  Admittedly, four might not be any better, but...still, it wouldn't help the Prince to voice it in terms of her own misgivings.

"Sire, I would also suggest at least Captain Orena or myself come with you as well, even if it is only to suggest that you do have a base of support among the nobility or army that is not rooted in the size of your purse alone."

"I know perfectly well how to relax, thank you. It'd just be difficult. There's no forge or tools available."

"Ahhh, a man who knows how to handle his weapon, hmm? That'd be a sight to see, I'm sure. The fire, the sweat, all the sparks flying...~ Mmm, but yes, there are other ways to relax you know. And you didn't answer my question. Thoughts about this tome?"

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

The younger of the three sat up slightly, looking at Odysios with some interest. He had a rather jarring scar across his face.

"What.. kind of work are you offering?"

The way she discribed forging made it sound almost as if she wasn't talking about forging at all. After a beat of uncomfortable silence, Chalco decided to skip past that.
"Yes, well... the tome? I must admit, I don't know much-to-anything about magic. What's the difference with the one you've got?"

Lian glanced at the Prince with a raised eyebrow. After a moment, she sighed.
: "I suppose I should be professional and state the obvious; your appearance is a little too distinctive for this 'plan'. But, it seems you're not in much of a position to avoid taking risks." She lifted her lance over her shoulders and shrugged, "Oh well. Lead the way."

Niccola, seeing that Sen's attention had been demanded by her employer, shrugged and ran after the two women who went for the weaponsmith. When she finally met them at the smith's, she spoke
: "Ah, so here it is! Having any luck finding what you're looking for?"

Iolani giggled slightly during the pause, with her only wish being that she could have seen his face when dealing with her comments. He'd clearly be confused. This was almost too easy.

"Well, it's pretty simple actually. Usually the more advance a tome is, the more power it has. Sometimes that just means an increase in power, other times that means an increase in the range that the spell can travel, and there are even some spells that can tear apart armor or make it harder for a person to walk. In this case, it's just a simple power upgrade. So I'd be hitting harder. Probably slightly harder to control, so I might miss more often, but wind magic is pretty easy to control in general. You should be glad I don't use lightning magic too often. That stuff is hard to control and in all that armor, any contact between us might be... shocking.~"
