Alice stiffened slightly,
"How far are they behind you?"

Chalco thought he might as well answer, or Vera would probably blurt it out anyway.

"Who knows? They were in combat when we left, and the forest would slow any mounted pursuers. Well, now you know the state of things, it's best you come with us."
And this way you can't sell us out to our enemies, either.
"What's your name?"

[Kansa]

Alice hesitated for a moment but then she answered,
  "My name is Alice"

[GiglameshDespair]

Chalco waited for Alice to continue, then sighed.
"_{It seems manners died along with hygiene among the lower classes.} Anyway, you may refer to me as "My lord", or "your lordship", if you're feeling formal. Can you fight, girl?"

[Culise]

Lizbet stiffened slightly as she heard Chalco suggest the stranger come with them. 

"Are you certain that would be wise?" she murmured to him, voice pitched low enough to not be easily overheard.  "I hate to be the voice of distrust, but we know naught about this person, and not only would she be at risk from associating with us, the Prince may also be at risk were she to prove...otherwise."

[GiglameshDespair]

Chalco moved away slightly from the others so he wouldn't be overheard talking to Lizbet, talking in a low tone that reverberated slightly in his helm.
"_{Everything is a risk this point... if we let her go, she might go straight to our enemies for a reward, or even if she doesn't, she may get interrogated and reveal us anyway. If she's with us, at least we can keep an eye on her.}" He glanced up at Alice for a moment before turning back to Lizbet. "_{If she can fight, and we get attacked, she'll most likely have to fight besides us. I doubt the traitor's goons will want to listen to explanations of "I'm just a traveller". If she can't fight, she's not a threat. It's unfortunate we met her, but this seems the safest option, unless we just butcher her now.}" His dry tone made it unclear whether that last part was a joke or not.

[Culise]

Joke or no, Lizbet seemed distinctly unamused by the implications of Chalco's last sentence.

"That kind of comment is unworthy of our noble blood.  Commoners, bureaucrats, and debased bastards may stoop to such dirty tricks, but a properly-born lord need not stoop to acts of cold murder."

"I would prefer to see her off as quickly as possible.  Even if she immediately finds a patrol and informs them of our location, they already know this is the only forest near the capital thick enough to avoid overhead wyvern patrols, so they will gain little save confirmation.  If they see us all gathered here together, however, they will attack her as well as us, and we are not so poorly done by yet as to involve random strangers in such trouble as our own."  She gave a slight moue, as though uncertain of or dismissing some thought.  "Such is the Prince's decision rather than ours, however, so I'll question you no further on the matter."  Stepping back towards the others, she stood by, spear idly in one hand, coincidentally between the Prince and the road. 

[GiglameshDespair]

Chalco nodded, accepting the chastisement.
"_{My apologies... it was poor humour for a poor situation. As you say, it is the Prince's decision, so we must trust to his wisdom.}"

[Haspen]

Suddenly a high-pitched horn sound could be heard coming from north-west.

"Damnation, that is Wing's horn. Someone saw something suspicious nearby... Us, or maybe some animal moving. The winged scouts will soon be over here to investigate, anyways." Titon looked at Alice.

"We cannot leave you here; the wyvern riders might question you, or you might be forced to tell them which way we went to save your skin. Either way, I would like to ask you to come with us. Once we are safe, we can part ways if you wish."

~~Player Turn 1~~

"We should make haste along the path. Even if a scout spots us, there will be certainly a delay before he can bring in reinforcements. We might be far from here by that time."

"I would rather hide. Call me a coward if you wish. But this forest is particularily thick in tall trees. If we all scatter under the canopy of these leafy trees and not move, the scouts might pass us without noticing us. Captain, you and Lizbeth will have to dismount though, and keep your horses quiet."

"Prince, if this gambit fails..."

"Then we will have to run. Or, if the fate is against us, fight big, scaly, armored backbone of Arvadian Military. I'm too well aware of that fact, Captain..."

Objectives:
Make a run for it and safely evacuate from the map via south-western passage. Any unit that enters the green-lit area is removed from map and considered 'safe'.
OR
Hide in the trees, keeping at least 1 tile of distance from each other, and do not move while wyvern scouts fly around the map. Mounted units will be spotted unless their riders dismount.


The rain is getting weaker. It might stop soon.

When the horn sounds, Lizbet is briefly stunned.  She had not expected it to come this soon, nor this close.  When Lizbet speaks up, her voice is entirely calm and measured, betraying none of her concern. 

"I agree with Prince Titon.  With our mounts lost to us, they can keep pace should we be seen to flee.  Irza and I can each still carry one additional person on our steeds, but I do not wish to leave one...no," she said with a glance at Alice, "It would now be two more left behind, if we fled."

"I shan't call it cowardice, either, whether we hide or run.  My prince, if your brother fell prey to this same plot, you are not simply your great-grandfather's favoured heir, but his only remaining heir.  You must stay alive for the time when Minister Labach pays for his crimes."

She paused, waiting for the others to chime in with their own wishes on the matter. 

[GiglameshDespair]

"Hmm... as you say, I doubt we can outrun them this time, if they are mounted on wyverns. I would say we conceal ourselves for now."

As the others slipped into the forests around them, Lizbet tacitly acknowledged the decision.  With a glance back at the prince and Irza, she flew south to the forest spur, where she hopped off Alauda.
