"And this snivelling weasel didn't think to say before?" An armoured gauntlet grabbed the innkeeper around the collar and dragged him face-to-helm with Chalco. "You wretch. How dare you not speak out as soon as you knew of this treachery?!"

"Not a one?  I suppose it is possible they...began their day's work early in the fields?" 

Even Lizbet didn't seem too confident about that as she watched the horizon.

"He was afraid of that exact reaction." Prince Titon looked at the innkeeper who now fell into mantra trance, repeating 'apologies!' over and over again.

"Leave him Chalco, it's not like he can do anything."

@Lizbeth:

Captain Orena looked past Lizbeth and at the hill to the west.

"Or maybe they ran away... I see horsemen coming from the east. How are they-"

"Lafach's men." Prince Titon left the inn along with others.

"What? How?"

"The villagers sold us when they had a chance. We must flee west, but-"

"Ah! Prince Titon, there are people coming from the west too!"

"Damn it! With the lake to the south and the glade to the north..."

The commander of the horsemen stopped his men at the outskirts.

"Five hundred gold for the man who brings me Titon's head! Down with the traitor!" The horsemen cheered in unison.

"So you have been hired by Lord Sobriel? And he has switched to Emperor Lafach's side, is that what you are saying?" The tall, robed man looked at the short swordsman.

"Yup. Name's Odysios, and these are my fellow cutthroats, and we were hired to cut Titon's throat. Our employer didn't say anything about Emperor's men, though."

"Neither the Commander said anything about Lord Sobriel or mercenaries. Still, you're welcome to partake in the hunt for the traitor." Once Emperor's men were facing the village, Odysios smirked.

~~Player Turn 1~~

"Stay calm and focus, people. We will find a way out of this..." Prince Titon tried to lift others' spirits... but maybe he was actually reassuring himself instead. Captain Orena wasn't buying it.

"Lizbeth, if these people will prove too much for us I want you to grab Prince Titon and flee across the lake. That's an order."

"What? I'm-"

"Apologies, Prince Titon, but sometimes there are situations in which fast legs and sneaking around just aren't enough. You have your orders, Lizbeth."

"If I die here, Prince, remember my family, and our loyalty. I would not like to think of my death as futile." The grim statement said, he regarded both enemy groups. "If some of these were mercenaries we could have appealed to their greed, if not their loyalty to the true Emperor. Which group should we strike first? No sense waiting to be pincered between them."

Lizbet looked at the others, Prince Titon included, then met Captain Orena's eyes evenly. 

"Understood."

At Chalco's question, she mounted her pegasus, rising aloft to get a better look at the enemy forces.

"Half-dozen cavalry to the east, and ten on foot to the west.  I think that if we move against the western group first, the cavalry will be able to cover the distance faster and catch us between them; the western group is larger, but won't be able to force engagement as quickly if we move east to eliminate the cavalry first.  On the other hand, if they're Imperial soldiers, almost half of the people to the west are out of uniform; I believe at least four of them may be mercenaries or other independent group."

Alice looked around nervously,
"Maybe we should go against the cavalry first, if we finish them off we might be able to escape"

[Haspen]

Captain Orena looked at Prince Titon for a while.

"That is a valid idea." She nodded. "Hopefully by the time the footsoldiers arrive, we will be done with the horsemen."

The western group went down the road while their leader climbed onto the tiny hill.

The eastern group engaged Prince's entourage - by the means of shooting down Lizbeth.

"Okay people," He turned toward his companions. "Let's continue our mission and go rescue the Prince!"

"Yes I heard Lafach's soldiers there, but look - your friends are fighting and Lizbeth has already been hurt! We must help them first!"

Prince Titon in meanwhile sprinkled Lizbeth with the healing paste.

"Please be more careful, Lizbeth."
