"This...is most problematic.  How persistent these wretches are, and how unfortunate their timing is."

At the shout from the leader of the southern patrol, she called back.  Until she knew their loyalties, she wouldn't declare the presence of the prince, but she could at least sound them out, and certainly, they were the friendliest of the three options.
"I fear flight is no longer an option for us.  We've crossed the Blacksand Desert, but we've pursuers of our own to the west: murderers and sell-swords of the lowest sort.  Moreover, we have no interest in seeing Pahravanite raiders roam free in Imperial lands, either.  Will you permit us to rendezvous with your force that we may work together?"
