Prince Titon looked to the north and took a deep breath, thinking for a while.
"Thank you. Let's go."And their tiresome journey continued.
~~Chapter 2: Light in the Shadows~~
By some divine grace, the group have managed to avoid further altercations with the henchmen of "Emperor" Lafach. Through the afternoon and evening, they have passed through the Arvadian glade, the horse and pegasus on their last legs before, at last, the trees began to thin and the group left the Arvadian Glade.
They have emerged on the other side, just in front of a small farming village of Argan, whose inn was the largest and only source of business in there. Another stroke of luck came in the fact that the soldiers have been here before, according to the innkeeper, and left an hour before the Prince and his tired entourage have arrived.
Prince Titon paid for rooms and meals with one of his numerous rings (an act that irked Captain Orena mightily), and, for once, they had peace.
For this night only, because a new calamity was waiting for them the very next morning...
With Captain Orena outside, tending to her horse and keeping watch on the road, Prince Titon was sitting in the main hall, enjoying some roast meat at one of the tables, with Chalco and Lizbeth.
"Mr.Otan, can I have some beer?""O-Of course." The innkeeper, with a forced smile, brought a mug for the Prince.
"Here you go, my Prince." With a hurried voice, the innkeeper bowed his head and went into the kitchen, while Prince Titon looked at the mug, then at the innkeeper, and then at the door.
"Chalco, I think it's time for Vera and Alice to wake up. Could you? And Lizbeth, maybe Captain Orena needs a hand with her horse. After all," Prince Titon glanced at the kitchen's door.
"You can't wash your horse and keep an eye on the road in the same time... Don't you agree?"
