Orbital Drydock Research: 15 Resources, 20 Energy

All that remains is 5 Energy. We can use energy to gather more resources, but Energy is our limiting resource, not Resources. As such, I propose we keep the energy for ourselves, and don't waste it gathering more resources. If we keep it, we can research alien systems next turn, hopefully getting something that provides more energy.

If we need more resources, we better

Renounce "Sustainable Population Act":

That's why I chose my action as is. We use all of our energy, but we gain 27 next turn.

The goal I was thinking of was to always have a defender built per turn at the minimum, and have more shipyards. If I can get an extra one for free, then 2 defenders

Free action doesn't mean we don't have to pay for it. It merely means that it doesn't take up one of our 4 action slots.

And your plan doesn't use up all our energy. It uses way too much energy we don't have. I highly doubt we can use the energy we get next turn for this turn, and even if we could I would rather use it differently.

Yeah... The main reason why I thought the docking research would help is because we could use less resources to make ships because they don't need to worry about breaking through the atmosphere as it says the shipyards are limited to doing. It may even make ships that are more lightweight

Yes. However, we have more than enough resources for now, and within 10 turns it'll be a net benefit.
