Now here was a slight improvement, Sir Mangrove thought. Hopefully this all wouldn't turn out to be a fiendish illusion like the last time he found the Fabled City of Gold. Or, for that matter, when anybody else in history has found the Fabled City of Gold.

See if the City of Gold has anything in the way of quest-friendly adventurers as well as wizards (that gold and food has to come from somewhere, clearly).

Also check on what the religion of the citizens is, if any.

And make sure to spend my evenings with my fey traveling companion, getting to know it better.

The treasury is...EVIL you say?
Absorb evil power from treasury, Become SLAUGHTERSOUL THE EVEN MORE FIENDISH
Confirm action: "Eat an n-dimensional energy field bigger than my head?"

I now walk around Mass Casting Two spells at Rebels: Curse Of Womanization, And [...] Summon Demon Pimp Of Female Enslavement
Just cast mass-rape while you're at it why don't you.

Just so long as its an EVIL n-dimensional energy field bigger then my head!

I mean, come on Nirur, its an RTD so all actions have exactly the same amount of risk anyhow, and this is looking like it might end up being my final chance to act anyway with how these rolls are going :P

Try and cast dark magic at the rebels if I have any time spare, but firstly make preparations to take the King into the portal: toss a few servants into it, lower a stick in and see what shape it comes out in, expose it to different colours of light, those sort of tests. If the kingdom looks to be on the brink of destruction, and the castle on the verge of being captured by rebels, however, take the King into it at once.

If anyone obstructs my access to the portal, team up with the necromancer to incapacitate them, but don't stand near him when he casts the spell with it.

"This is too far. You've lead this kingdom to the brink of ruin. I cannot let you take us or our ruler any further." I begin to research a way to close the portal, and I command my elvish troops to guard it and prevent anyone from messing with it.

Fall - Flowing heat waves,
Many earthquakes rock the lands.
Ill signs - No news here.

Darius hires assassins against Locke.
{2} vs {3} - Only a few begger-tier 'assassins' answer his call. They are promptly executed by the Undermoon berserkers under Locke's command.

Zechtenmarkus walks up to rebels and casts mass womanization and summons demonic slaver-pimps.
[autofail - The Pantheon of Good take exception to your treatment of their worshipers] - A ray of magically pure sunlight distracts him at a terrible moment, causing the former court wizard's spell to backfire, and the demons capture her.

Zechtenmarkus will never escape their clutches.

Locke leads the troops in defense.
{5} - The jester and liberal agitator is a surprisingly effective military leader.

<CLASSIFIED> finds a mermaid specialist to save the king's liver.
{5} - The assassin finds a traveling mermaid-surgeon. The surgeon makes quick work of the surgery, and the king soon awakens. She seems to be more concerned with her sobriety than the coma or species swap.

Sir Mangrove spends time with the fey and asks around: Adventurers? Wizards? Religion?
The fey rarely leaves his side, but speaks rarely. They are uninterested in the pleasures of the flesh, but seem to have some sort of artistic interest in his soul.
These people have no need for adventurers!
They don't really seem to have wizards, but they have a surprisingly large and varied library of magical lore.
They claim to have no large-scale religion, but say that the gods themselves take vacations in their city.

{4} - After a few days, he meets one who appears to be Mara, a lesser goddess of crows, small coin, and luck. She has a strong aura of presence that can only be described as godlike. She gives a half-smile and says she will hear a single request. His companion is nowhere to be seen.

A pool of water shows the state of the kingdom. ((Use of OOC knowledge about what's happening is allowed here.))

Slaughtersoul absorbs the eldritch portal.
Hobknob studies the portal and prepares to take the king through it if needed.
Priestess Asha prepares to close the portal while her elves guard it against any transgression.
{1,1,1,3}

The portal shifts the elvish guardians, and claims them. They now have a powerful magical presence and will let no-one approach.

King Rolanda is a mermaid.

{3} vs {3} - There is a rebel attack on the capital, but Locke rides forth with the remnants of the local levies, while the Undermoon Berserkers slam into their back, resulting in the complete annihilation of the attackers.

{1} vs {5} - In a series of losses, the rebels conquer nearly all of the kingdom. Only the lands immediately around the capital remain loyal.

The treasury contains enough to pay the local levies for 0.25 years.
Taxes remain moderate.

The local economy is embargoed.

The local levies are nearly all dead and need high-level healing magic.
There is a group of veteran berserkers from Undermoon, currently guarding the capital.
There is a company of elite elven archers under the portal's command.

John Locke (nosaneinme), the palace fool.

Sir Mangrove (Harry Baldman), the Secretary of Love, Worldliness and Quests.

Asha Imeremifava (penguinofhonor), Priestess and Religious Adviser.

Darius Welthon (Coolrune206), Economic Adviser.

Classified (ATHATH), assassin.

SlaughterSoul The Fiendish (BFEL), Knight of Darkness.

Hobnob McEvil (NJW2000), knight of the crown and head of military finance. Is now openly evil.
