Thank Armok, I've finally reached the exit and I am now on the surface.

EDIT: Something very odd has happened. My adventurer got hungry, so he ate a giant dingo lung that my dwarf spawned with. He became dizzy and nauseuous soon afterwards. What just happened?

(I also drank the blood of various cave creatures while underground)

According to the wiki, the issue is that my dwarf has become cave-adapted, and has become highly irritated by sunlight.

I discovered a lair while travelling. Stopping to explore, I discovered a single coin, just sitting there.

I looked past the downward slope and found...

Oh shiet

I know this story is based around the idea of a dwarven monster-slayer, but as of right now I am in no condition to fight. I need to cure the cave-adaption first and then return to kill the roc.

Man, recovering from cave adaption is a bitch. I nearly drowned trying to swim across a river. I managed to climb (not swim) out just in time before a homicidal alligator showed up and started killing the fish.

EDIT: On the plus side, is does look like I'm (slowly) beginning to recover. My character is no longer nauseous (though that could just be because the sun is setting)

So it turns out it was just the sun setting. The sun is back, and so is the dizziness and nausea.

So for the sake of being actually able to do anything in daytime, I'm going to edit the game files hire the services of a disease-curing shaman to remove the cave adaption from my character.

After slaying a bunch of animals, I finally got enough meat and prepared organs to buy an iron short sword at the dwarven fortress' trade depot. Not too far to the south of me are the goblin pits surrounding the dark fortress of Monsterheated. They shall be my next destination.

I have arrived. Soon all the goblins shall fear my name (or laugh at it as I die miserably)

Having finally arrived at the fortress' tower, I noticed that the goblins were all concerned about a fight going on, which makes me worried about whatever may be inside...

All the goblins with civillian professions just started running and screaming about a battle. Which is odd. I guess I'll just head underground and see where that takes me.

So I'm in the underground area of the goblin fortress...

Seriously, where are all of them? This whole place is deserted!

So, I've become tired of all this overhead goblin chatter that is slowly killing my soul (and rapidly killing my framerate). I'm gonna murder all the goblin civilians and report back when it's done.

I've killed a total of one hundred and thirty-six goblins so far, and there's been no change in framerate. I've decided to just leave the goblin pits and head off to kill monsters.  On the plus side, I've gone from a Proficient Swordsdwarf to an Adept Swordsdwarf.
