So, what do we need to fix now?

We need to get the chemkit online, finish the hab dome, and then get back to power as fast as possible.

Oh, we also have 2 broken bots we can fix.

Funfact, a type of plastic can be made from milk and some acids.

Though, it isint the most useful form of plastic in the world.

Yeah, the first plastics were made with simple organic materials as well.  But most of the stuff used in the modern world is from petrochemicals.  That is the primary issue here, basically working with meat, some plants and human waste to make plastics useful for a variety of needs.

It is totally possible but a bit outside what the VR kit can accomplish, best you will be able to do is a brute force factory until you have real labs work on the problem.
Realized. I think my sleep addled brain just felt like throwing the fact out there.

Although, We have a meat vat, how hard would it to be to get one of those producing the right protein...

question: how big is the life sciences lab? because it looks like we're really butting into the limitation of only having engineering research. Also, the biodiversity bay comes with the plans for the lab, so it shouldn't be too hard to build the lab from the bay.

Also, ouch about that guy's leg. Looks like he'll either be bot wrangling or running the factory.

Edit: things that I definitely want to happen:

Factory helping finish off outstanding construction(the chem plant and the living dome)

Second large dome built

Getting the life sciences lab started

doing an atmospheric analysis and getting an industrial air mixer up and running to exploit it for oxygen, carbon, and nitrogen.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

We need a plan! I am far too lazy/busy to make one.

Since the brute force approach for bioplastics looks to be inefficient, it'd be better to hold off until we can get the life sciences lab up and running to gene-engineer the proper plants for it. Might still need some engineering time, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Meanwhile, since we're planning to get started on the dam once the storms lift and all outstanding construction is finished up, it'd probably be nice to have a system to actually get staff out to the completed power station other than a 2km hike or hogging the Bradbury :P

Speaking of the Bradbury, was it only the cargo module that got build or did the survey packages and the crew transport packages get built also?

We might want to look into digging a tunnel to the Dam site or some sort of tram to it. Possibly a tram in a tunnel.

Yes, I know we dont need it yet, but it would be a nice thing in future.

If we could get a stable base to lay rail, a straight-up train could be pretty useful. If that's overly difficult, expanding our underground network strikes me as good.

Don't forget we still have a broken Heavy mech and Exo we can fix.

Yeah, but we're one manpower short of manning the repair bay for full efficiency to do so(otherwise I'd have gotten started on that  rather than doing some art:P)

Next project I want to get to though is less bulky survival suits for Kara's environment. I'm imagining that we'd really only need breath masks and maybe small pressure bladders(how survivable IS 0.5 atm anyways?)

So from what I can read the pressure itself is not an issue.  The primary concerns are having sufficiently sealed masks and going back and forth into higher pressure environments.

Right now you are using hard vacsuits designed to protect against the extremes of space, so you have been okay.

You will certainly need to study and design a new suit system to survive on this planet.

We could always slowly start to adjust base pressure to match the native atmosphere, maybe altering the oxygen ration a bit to compensate. That way we really would only need to use sealed facemasks and portable oxygen tanks. We would keep a couple sets of vacsuits for things like if we manage to find good uranium/thorium deposits and set up a fission reactor.
