Hector: people have referred to other players as vanilla town without knowing if they were or not before. It can actually help, as you don't have to say "assuming he's town", as someone isn't going to say otherwise about themselves, and its a valid assumption to make. And your defence... just, no. You respond to my accusations of pedantism after you went after someone for not remembering to say that they were talking about a hypothetical situation, with an irate and complex attack on him.
In what way is my attack on him complex? I say he was making assumptions, he says he wasn't. I provided an example of him making assumptions, he said it was a hypothetical assumption. Try to get through that layered and excessively complex argument if you can!
It was a direct question, NJW. Excuse me for finding it a little bit bizarre when I wanted him to tell me why he thought you weren't tunneling, and he gave me a treatise on the value of a VT vote.
It's also called pedantry, byraway.
NJW
Hector, you may not have noticed, but he thought you were scum in that post.
I don't know much about your big-town fancy mafia logics, but I do know that things were simpler when we lived by the fruit of our labour and the sweat of our brows when two people go up against one another and post many pages of arguments about why the other is scum, there's a high chance they're not both scum. You just seem to be pedantically attacking him for one post in which he assumed/ took as given I was town, or just said what the case would be if I were town.
That is why my vote is still on you.
Did it escape your notice he said I didn't offer you any counter-arguments to you voting for me? I'm sure you would know otherwise, seeing as you were the player I was arguing with.
Yeah, you attacked my reasoning when I chose my words poorly, and attacked me when I clarified myself and kept on. But to the main driving thrust of my case: you haven't said much that's stu -
I also told you why I was doing what you were scumreading me for. My arguments against you were an explanation of what I was doing by questioning the suspicious players (solidifying reads) and questioning inactives (getting them involved in the game) though I did also attack your reasons. That's how arguments work... would you rather I attack your person? "You're a fucking idiot NJW, stop being a fucking idiot NJW. I'm not scum you fucking idiot, NJW"
but then you'd say "He's attacking me, not my arguments! MUST BE SCUM!"
Evidently you ignored my reasons, or didn't take them into consideration with your read because
it doesn't fit your theory that I'm scum.
I would keep repeating myself, but you didn't pay attention the first few times so you're not going to pay attention now, are you? It would just be shitposting, and then you'd say "Hector's shitposting, he must be scum!" and then I'd say "Confirmation bias!" and we'd keep going round in circles.
HOLD ON A BLOODY MINUTE HERE - you said he claimed you didn't make any counterarguments. WHat he said was this:
What makes you think he's not tunneling?
The fact that every vanilla townie has only one weapon, a vote. And just because he uses his vote on you does not warrant an all-out attempt to undermine their only power. You are reacting in the completely wrong way to someone voting for you. You should be making arguments to counter his own rather than flailing around random scum-tells to a completely townie action.
Hector13
That you should concentrate your attentions on either my arguments or on scumhunting generally, rather than trying to bring me down for no reason. Whether or not you were flailing around slapping scumtells onto your read of me without justification, he seems to have thought so, and he was only advising you to avoid OMGUSing and make counters. I'll repeat myself, as you have a bit of a habit of misconstruing people: he thought you were practically OMGUSing, and told you not too, saying what you should do instead.
And yet again, with your "oh-I'm-Hector13-and-I've-been-treated-so-unjustly-by-everyone-saying-I'm-scum" act, manage to twist this into lying. Another example of your machinations - unless you have some kind of disability stopping you understanding English properly, which still lets you have a mature and spuriously accurate writing style. Dis-town-exia, perhaps
Is it my fault people say things that aren't clear? No.
Using the phrase "rather than" for example, tells people he thinks I didn't do the bit before it (making counter-arguments) because I did the bit after it instead (tacking random scumtells to you) so I don't understand why you're being upset about me saying he was mistaken, because just reading the interaction between me and you is enough to prove it wrong.
Like with you, I don't care that's he's calling me scum, I care
why he's calling me scum. I'm sorry I find it troubling that he said one thing when he voted me, then another thing when asked to summarise his reasons for voting me.
If I were scum, why would I have to look at anyone else when you're the one in line to get lynched? If I were scum, having a townie get lynched would be fantastic for me. If I were scum, I would thus have no reason whatsoever to attack another player, my job would be done.
Oh, and as to your "look, I made it so you didn't get lynched by voting someone else instead so I can't be scum, because scum would let you get lynched" thing: could just be scum effort to appear town. And a completely free town-point, for extra scumhunting, if you manage to make sure town get lynched anyway. Yes, this "no it's not town it's just to look town" does get us into WIFOM or just useless unproveable motive dissection. Besides, I still have a coupla votes on me anyway, don't I? So I'm not taking this as an assurance you're town.
Well, that little lie took up a great deal of my time today. Thanks, Hector, I might have some more posts later, might not be able to.
And again with the bloody confirmation bias... from reading D1 of your last game this does seem like your style of play, but I would like to say something: past performance does not guarantee future results. Just because Frostmoon was scum (well done on getting that in the first few pages in the game, too) (OHFUCK HECTOR'S BUDDYING, HE MUST BE SCUM) does not mean the first person you see acting scummy is going to be scum in the future.
Have you considered I removed my vote from you because I'm thinking that the reasons I'm voting you aren't strong enough for me to continue voting you? Of course not! It doesn't fit your damned theory
I moved it to someone I wanted to answer questions. I didn't think OSG was scum at that point, I wanted him to clarify bits of what he said, but I think he's scum now. Evidently I should reconsider my thoughts on pressure votes...
Do you have any inkling who "my" scumbuddy might be? No, because you've spent so much time on me, you've neglected everyone else.
Equally so you're defending OSG when you cannot possibly know his motivations. Count that as extra weight on the scum side of the scales for you.
