Hmmm. Pros and Cons of leaving merc to his fate:

Con: Might not get paid
Pro: Can say he promised much higher price than he actually did
Con: Might not be believed
Pro: Nobody can refute us though
Con: One less party member or something I guess
Pro: One less person who thinks digging in when caught on bad terrain is the right choice
Con: Inn will probably be destroyed, thus no celebratory drink from victory
Pro: Don't have to pay tab

So I'm tired of the slump in this game. Time for a vague plan which will involve Culise canceling her action but will involve us all moving down and even rescue Odys. If nothing else, it will at least spark some discussion.

So.

Niccola-cola goes up, steals Royal Shivs from Lizzy and head down or east depending on if we're fleeing south or north east.
Lizzy goes over to Odys and keeps him from being stupid through rescue and fleeing. Probably won't get far though, which is why everyone else is gonna have to run a defensive line probably.
Bucket head should head south as well as he can, although at this point the north east corner of the map is looking more defensible
The footsloggers will probably have to run a defensive line for Bucket head and Lizzy so they aren't immediately killed if we're heading south, or just try to punch through as hard as they can the eastern enemies if we're going east.

If we're heading south, I predict roughly two turns before the NPC riders reach us, three before their help actually accomplishes something. More turns if they stay in formation or get bogged down with the stragglers.

Big goal would be to stay out of range of Mr Murder

Pretty much, there is no good scenario here so its less 'not die' and more 'lets figure out how we want to die and maybe live'

I say just go south. Meeting up with allies is probably for the best. So that means other people should post. Need Deidei to go grab the prince from Lizbet and then move south and then the rest of the plan can be followed.

Can that river be moved across on horseback? And is that really smart, considering how far she is from the others?

South would be the gist, yeah. We need to keep going and try to avoid the sage as much as possible and try to hook up with the NPCs. Lizbet can rescue Odys or leave him to his fate, although I think rescuing him will prevent her from moving to a 'safe spot'. If not, the footsloggers need to try and run interference as much as they can until she can successfully flee.

If we attack a side, we need to commit, and any fight would be a fighting retreat to avoid the sage.

@Twin: The ford, yes. The actual river only if water walk or levitation. The general idea is to move south and aid the others in moving south if they have issues with getting bogged down.

The issue is that, if I move her as south as I can, she's in range of 2 enemies who will most likely down her, and then she's kind of isolated.

No one said to move her all the way south. Just start that way. Also remember mounted units have -1 mov right now

Except us fliers.  We have -2 MOV. ^_^

That said, if you are worried, dismounting will let Vera be rescued by pretty much anyone.  It is true that she'll be pretty isolated moving south, though.  It may be better for her to move with the group; that will also let her give anyone who gets left behind a pick-up.  Which will mostly be Chalco, Odysios, Iolani, and myself - Odysios and I will be the worst off, since it'll take me two turns to reach him (neglecting the Ally Phase), with an Enemy Phase in between to completely cut both of us off from moving south.
