Hmmm, if A moves straight west, they'll be close enough to see any movement, and if they keep moving west, Chalco will be caught regardless. Drat it all, I should have held position or at least moved east; we wouldn't be in this mess if I hadn't panicked at the concern of ending the turn next to another NPC right before the enemy arrival and tangled up our formation.
I think we have to gamble. We'll have to assume and hope that the horns are being sounded to call these three pairs together and that there isn't another pair to the south just off-map that's also being called; otherwise, we lose regardless. Under that assumption, they'll either move to the center of the map (if they can see each other and can orient visually) or to the center and north (if they cannot, and thus must orient on the sound). Alice is pinned down since she can't reach us without crossing swamp. She can move anywhere within those three forest tiles, but if C keeps moving south, she'll be discovered no matter what. As such, I'm going to set her aside in this for the time being and concern ourselves with the other three.
If we move two tiles south:
>If D or E move south, we're detected at the end of this turn (Irza-Vera pair, 6-8 tiles away from (2,15) or (1,14))
>If E moves east, we're detected at the end of this turn (Irza-Vera pair, 6 tiles away from (8,9))
If we move one tile south:
>If A moves west two consecutive turns, we're detected at the end of the next turn (stopping on a tile adjacent to Chalco) - Chalco is also blocked from moving further after the first turn due to the 8-tile rule.
If Vera moves into the deeper forest, it changes the adjacency problem from IV to CV, which is even worse for us. If Liz moves north or holds position, she replaces Chalco in the one-tile problem above, but she can outfly him if we need to escape. My thought right now is that the one-tile option is best, because moving two south guarantees detection if E moves in any direction other than north. Otherwise, Vera moves to (10,14) and Chalco moves to (9,13), putting Liz in the tail since she can move the fastest in a pinch. I'm not seeing any other options at this point.
EDIT: Plus, if Liz is the only one to get caught, I already know more or less what she's going to say.
