Sweet.
I'm mostly melee with my swords and stuff. Give me the plasma pistol and let somebody else use the assault riffle. Just change my 1 skill point from ballistic to plasma. That's the only difference with the sheet below. If it makes everybody happy, then that's the main thing.

Appearance: Lean, wiry, hungry, and ever so slightly tinted a rusty orange, Jacob is quiet, but direct when speaking. Always shaved bald and often wearing light, maneuverable armor, he projects a calm, internally focused demeanor. His clothing is fairly spartan, field survivable, purposeful, and effective. He always carries at least one bladed weapon, the largest of which is his sword, concealed in his back armor. He has several knives, and a a pistol, preferring to take an assault riffle with him whenever leaving the ship. His frame, like his attire, are lithe and maneuverable. Jacob prefers melee weapons because you can't shoot a hole in the hull with one or run out of ammo. To compensate for the obvious range limitations, he is quiet, stealthy, and mobile. His brown eyes casually gaze at the world, appearing unhurried, and not bothered.
Background: Just because people reached space doesn't mean they became angels. Jacob fought bullies as a child, usually with skilled fists. The best of them never could beat him in a fair fight, so they never fought fair. Experience was a good teacher, but not a kind one. Jacob saw a lot of medical attention and learned a lot about fighting the hard way. He became good at it, made sure not to get caught to be blamed for it, and eventually turned it into a career.
Civilian police recognized the necessity of using firearms, but frowned upon doing so due to bad PR and hull breaches. Jacob excelled at melee combat when required. Catching someone was a matter of moving into the right place, staying hidden until the right time, and then striking. They started calling him "Visa" - everywhere you want to be.... Thankfully, Jacob didn't have to kill anyone in the line of duty, but more than a few resisting violent felons regretted their violence, or rather Jacob's violence against them. His non lethal effectiveness was noticed and Jacob moved up the ranks of the police and security forces, commanding a small squad of men and serving excellently with primarily quiet professionalism.
Jacob was asked to join the mission to provide security and possibly combat expertise if needed. Of course, his primary mission, like everyone else's is to bring Dr Forge back, alive if possible.... Shooting would not aid in the "alive" part of that goal.... Melee and non lethal takedown restraints it is, or rather will be....
