Alan's phone goes off.
"Ugh, phone, why must you interrupt a good time with your notifications for an email-delivered promotion that's not even relevant out here?  Why did I even hook my email up to this thing?"
Alan fiddles with his phone for a bit before returning it to his pocket.  He seems to not notice the sort of shatter-y light effects.

Alan starts fiddling about, having had an idea.  Specifically, conditional-type stuff, which probably already exists if as nothing but on-switches, already supports booleans of a sort and thus binary.
