11am update:

Florence has weakened to a mid-tier Cat 2 (105mph) with a central pressure of 955mbar. That's great news.
Forward speed has dropped slightly to 10mph.
Windfield has widened slightly: 80mi Hurricane-force radius, 195mi TS radius

Track remains steady and looks like landfall near Morehead City, then tracking across land and hitting Wilmington from the east, then moving into northern South Carolina and headed west.

Charleston makes out better in this track, Charlotte actually may fare worse. Ironic, as I know some people that evacuated the OBX to head to Charlotte.
Looks like most of central NC can expect 3 solid days of rain -- Friday through Sunday. Forecasts are for 20-30" of rain on the coast with pockets up to 40", 6-12" inland with pockets up to 24".

First tornadoes have been spotted along the coast, in Carteret and Hyde counties.

Sustained winds constant at 105mph, central pressure 955mbar.
Forward movement has increased to 17mph.
Windfield constant at 80/195.

60mph winds reported in Morehead City, 40-50mph winds all up and down the coast.

Here (approx. 180 miles away) the wind is a steady 10-15mph and it's started raining on and off as the outermost rain bands swish through. Conditions will continue to deteriorate all evening and overnight.

My parent's house (full-time residence now; they are retired) is in Myrtle Beach.  About 1/4 mile from the coast and a topo map says they are at about 23' MSL.  They are right next to a canal though... their floors are raised 4' above ground level, but it is stressful to think of what they'll find when they can make it back there.

5pm update is out a bit early:

Sustained winds have dropped slightly to 100mph, central pressure steady at 955mbar.
Forward movement has slowed WAY down, to 5mph.
Windfield unchanged at 80/195.

Revised track has the eye barely 1/3 of the way into South Carolina by Saturday. This is the stall we were all worried about. Coastal and central NC and coastal SC are in for a metric shitton of rain.

The slower movement and weaker winds do mean that the storm surge will be slightly less severe, which is good.
Rainfall totals may need to be revised upward though. So far the NHC hasn't changed rainfall projections.
