Man, where in the US isn't dangerous?

Northeast - Blizzards, hurricanes.

Midwest - Blizzards, crime.

Southeast - Hurricanes, flooding, heatwaves.

Florida - Don't gator open storms.

Great Plains - Blizzards, tornadoes, flooding, corporate malfeasance.

Southwest - Heatwaves, anarchy, earthquakes.

West Coast - Earthquakes, Californians.

Alaska - Arctic climate, murder bears.

Hawaii - Storms, fucking volcanoes.

Other islands - Storms, sea level rise.

Pretty sure the parts of the middle-ish are fine when they're outside tornado alley, too far south for blizzards, and too far north to be summer hellscape. Don't recall them doing much economy/population wise, though. Crime's basically unavoidable region wise but it's usually easy enough (resources allowing) to bugger off out of town and never really get bothered (and/or be able to easily hide the bodies if you are).

That's just because they made a deal with the daemon living beneath the Yellowstone Caldera. They're avoiding danger now in exchange for total annihilation at an unspecified later date.

Sure, but that's unspecified and later, and in the meantime there's plenty of incidental sacrifices to redirect from the rest of the country to sate its slumbering hunger.

Gasoline shortages are hitting various states, Texas especially, as gas stations run out of, well, gas.

Just shows how little slack there is in the supply if roughly one fifth of the refining capacity gets taken offline.

*waggles hand* Honestly, I'm not entirely sure that's necessary slack lack in the supply and not just standard stocking practices (forget the name, but it's where folks have basically no slack, intentionally, to skim greater profits off the logistics and whatnot) biting lots of people in the ass. Have to wait until a ways out and people figuring out what's actually happened in more detail.

Been hearing rumors of that in Austin; sounds like people are lining up for gas around here in fear of that.

Just like how they were last weekend with both gas and bottled water selling out despite being 150 miles inland and just barely in range of Harvey's rain for a couple days.

Turns out the shortages in Dallas (and maybe some other places in Texas) was due to people freaking out, and is likely partially why other states are getting shortages.
