"But you don't know that for sure! This is a hard game, I know my brother was always getting upset with the beta. And the others said so too! And... and what if he lied? What if he did this to other people too? What if we end up... end up killing someone? I can't..."

Xoddahs drew away from the main conversation as it darkened, focusing back on Stein.

"Hah, you aren't wrong. What would your title be, 'Trolled by an Admin?'" Xoddahs frowned and shook his head. "Yeah, no, probably best not to listen to me for advice on that. To be honest, I was already toying with the idea of an ironman run before this." The shaman became silent for a bit after his confession, then started grinning to himself.

"It's kind of funny."

Peter sat against a tree, legs crossed and with a mostly just resigned expression.
:"If there's one thing I'm not too worried about, it's that. There'll... probably be enough oblique hints flying around we'll realize. Or... something."

"Then don't.  You're perfectly free to sit here and stay in the game for the rest of your life.  I don't give a damn."

"Or you can come along and help us all get out of this hellhole.  We probably won't kill anyone.  It's not like he could do something like this to many other people, anyway.  The media would catch on too quickly, and that'd ruin all of his fun."

Riona stared at the man for a few seconds, before just walking away from him towards others of the group. He clearly was not sympathetic and se had no interest in dealing with him right now because of that.

"So. Who votes we grind as high as we can on lowest level mobs until we don't get experience anymore, then repeat the process on the next enemy we get experience from, and so on? Slow, boring, but it makes the game easy enough we won't die. And if he gave other players the same thing that lets us see stats, they'll see we're too high a level and not mess with us so we don't have a chance of killing anyone."

Stein patted Riona on the shoulder reassuringly before answering Xoddahs.

"I'll think of something, hopefully. I've got a few books published, anyway."

That was a problem, too. His books sold well, but not great. He was always frugal, but to be perfectly honest with himself if he hadn't sold movie rights to his trilogy (for less than he would have liked) he would have been filing bankruptcy at the beginning of the fiscal year.

"Umm. . . Me, In the way back of this conversation. I have a question. . . "
He thought hard on how to phrase this, so as not to get himself stuck in a situation he couldn't change.
"Its safe to assume that you chose us when we bought the game, and looked into our. . . Ummm. . . habits and patters. Its also easy to assume you have more than enough funds to care for at least 13 people. . . . Yourself included. What if, after doing all that, one of us decided that we didn't want to check out, or that you didn't want to check us out of this world. What would happen to us?"

"You're still here? No, almost all of the preparation was based on making sure it would impossible for this to be traced back to me. None of you are special, don't be ridiculous."

"That could be useful Later. Thanks."

Harold knew he was speaking out of of his ass, but, hopefully it could be useful later.
With that he headed off, fast. the others left him way behind, but he was happy to think of this as his dream being fulfilled. . . at least a little bit.

"We could, but I'd rather this be done and over with rather than linger on. And you just know he'll throw obstacles at us in his role's true fashion. Doubt he would pass that chance up." Xoddahs poked his head back into the group discussion for the moment to throw in his two bits for the red head.

The shaman nodded in acknowledgement to Riona as she moved closer. "Wanting to skip out on that shouting match too?"

At Stein's next response, he had to ask. "Wait, you've published books? Really? Wonder if I've read them. What genre, if you don't mind my prying?"

"Noir fiction... more specifically, the Sam Mercer trilogy: What Sister Abigail Saw, The Downward Spiral, and Flatlined."

Stein shrugged. He wasn't famous, even as authors went. The likelihood of anyone in the group having heard of him was low in his estimation.

"I just... he didn't care. And... and I'm not sure I want to be stuck with everyone but we are and we could die but I just... I just wanted to have some fun..."

Stein, for a lack of options and knowledge of dealing with upset teenage females, patted Riona's shoulder again.

"You can still have fun, you know. If you like risks. Think about it: have you ever played a game, or read a book, or watch a movie, and think to yourself: 'I want to be in that world?' This is that chance."

Hell, right now my real life ain't nothing great anyway. I spent more time here than anywhere else already... guess this just gives me an excuse not to log off more than anything.
