It was a poor joke, but the noir writer in him felt the need to make witticisms in the face of bad odds.

"Come on guys, this is the part where we're suppose to run from the BBEG now that he's had his introduction. That iron man run isn't gonna start itself." He seemed more tired than angry or sardonic.

FlyingHigh, still the slightest bit in shock, remounts her Pegasus and follows the others.

CircuitGrrl followed the others, her processor whirring. Why couldn't her creator hit the save button more often?

"I play games to carry people. You see this barn-door back? It could easily carry ten people." Stein hefted his axe onto his shoulder.

Hell, maybe a little life or death experience is what I need to break out of this slump. It's not quite the same as my books, though...

Thinking to himself, Stein followed the others.

Walking with the others, Xoddahs nudged Stein with his elbow.

"Guess one should be careful what they wish for. Truth or no, I'd rather not find out. Should be exciting though, maybe." An obvious attempt at meaningless small talk, but it appeared to be how Xoddahs is coping with the situation. His fatigue from before seemed to have left him after the first few steps away from the 'questgiver'.

FlyingHigh looks back at the guy who trapped them in the game: is he still there?

Starting to walk after the rest of the group, Riona looked at the man who had trapped them there and shook her head.

"I just... I don't get any of this. Why us, why this, I..."

Her words trailed off and she continued after the rest of the group, staring at the ground, clearly still in shock.

Now with the others who walked away, Peter broke into another bit of sarcastic laughter, though it was now a whole lot more subdued.
:"Heh... you know what? I'll live... it's not like I had a life anyway, right?"

"Probably because we're new to the game. He might be more interested in wanting to play the role than a real goal. Or something." Xoddahs shrugged as he replied to the hooded girl--Riona Darkstar.

"I don't think the why is terribly important right now. Rather, what next."

Gecko seethed, refusing to so much as glance back at the jackass who'd decided to imprison him here for some particularly psychopathic game.  He wouldn't give him the satisfaction.  What he did do was glance at the man next to him--one of the roleplayers, from earlier--and snorted.

"Yeah? Lucky you, then.  As for me, I'm gonna lose a shitton of money on this, and I'm sure as hell not gonna take that sitting down."

"Not many people could say they've done what we're doing. Maybe I could write some memoirs and make a quick buck."

Stein was... surprisingly OK with the situation. His life had been boring for far too long. Everyday, the same routine: get up, eat breakfast, stare at a blank document unable to even come up with a title to build on, log into WoL and PvP for several hours, log off to eat a steak at the diner on the corner, then stare at the walls while drinking until he passed out on the couch.

He needed something to break the routine, and this would be it. Overcome or die trying, like his protagonist Sam Mercer. And for all of his high-level playing, he had never finished more than the early storyline quests. Now he had good reason to see the plot play out.

"Hell of a day to log in, huh?"

"I just... wanted to have fun. Like my brother did. I don't want to die."
