Thanks for the tips all, I'll have a look and see what can be done to improve it.

It definitely seems like there are some database/structural issues which might be difficult for them to fix, especially the creeping lag.

That being said, Paradox are usually pretty good at patching/making big changes. I know paradox aren't the devs for this, but I think they'd push heavy patching as part of their publishing remit.

paradox is just the publisher. they are the dudes that made a contract to have the game produced, but they have nothing to do with developement. thats all hbs.

Yeah, I'm hoping they'd at least push them a bit to patch it heavily (if they weren't going to already) - publishers often seem to get quite a big say in what happens/direction things go with games. I would be surprised if they hadn't outlined what they expect for post-launch support in their contract, and paradox are really big on that.

push them a bit to patches. well, its more like allow them to patch. they have to pay for it. they will only do so if they think they make more money from doing so, either by selling more copys of this game or by not damaging their reputation.
that said, it seems if things went well its because paradox is cool, if things went south its the  studio. paradox is kind of a teflon company it seems.

aanyway. im mildly optimistic. hbs last games did improve a lot from release over time.

They did come to gherkin party quite late though.

Anyway, it seems unity games often have loading times in excess of what seems reasonable.

Ok so the game isn't bad... but it isn't exactly groundbreaking either :/  Let's just say it's overall decent, with some confusing bits
I dont find myself very concerned with the slowness though. When you're doing things it's OK. My biggest problem is moving meches from place to place. Also, I'm not 100% about cover, I dont know if there is any tooltip I haven't noticed?

Also: If I may say, I find myself not giving two flying fucks about the main plot.

I just discovered that 'Show UI During Attacks' is not just a glamour feature, but a massive quality of life upgrade. You know how when you normally attack, you have to do a manually check afterward to see how much damage you dealt where? Show UI During attacks actually displays it live.

I have no idea why that is turned off by default.

yeah. its realy nice to see where the shots land.
however, i found that this also obscures the damage numbers almost all the time, and it will still be difficult to see where the shots land when there are many hits.
in effect, i found this to hurt more then it helped. what the game needs is a small text window where it lists hits and events.

Well, I've been lucky enough to avoid those crashes people have been talking about, but I got my first show-stopper bug: I went through a whole mission, and when I completed my objectives and the evac point became available, the game got stuck in 'cinema' mode, I couldn't select any of my mechwarriors and ultimately had to quit. Feels bad, especially since I spent a while doing a good job on that mission.

The only bug I've come across is when you target someone for sensor lock but decide to swap to attack and the camera stays locked on regardless of what you do until you go back into the sensor lock and exit it properly.

I had a lot of graphical glitches during cinematics (actually thought that they were part of the cinematics for a while) and crashes where the display just decided to quit entirely- thought I could still hear my mouse selecting things and my mechs taking actions if I just clicked wildly. Bizarrely, both were fixed by turning my V-sync on.

This story is so laaaame...

You'd think with a dev team of so many people who clearly love Battletech they'd have at least one person who can write better than a 12 year old. This isn't targeted towards the average public or children so why is the story and the characters so lame? Some of the random events are cool, so why can't they use that talent into writing a plot or making characters that isn't so incredibly obvious or stupid? Hell, this team made the Shadowrun games so they know how to write interesting stories.

I can't take anything seriously when the goddamn main villain talks like a cartoon villain and your own character straight up says "you know you talk like a cartoon villain". C'mon. Seriously?

If I was not forced to be on the Disney Princess Mary Sue's side I would rather fight for the other team. At least I can join the ridiculously campy cartoon villain faction.
