Woop! Can't wait to break some robots! Thanks!
--------
Played a skirmish match just now. Got my ass handed to me because I had no clue how to play. Reading the manual now.
But so far it feels really really good. I'm getting a really good impression from this.

After reading the manual, did a second run. Had a knockout victory. 4 kills no deaths, though my poor light mechs were brutalized to hell and back.
Tips:
1. Mechs are all really, really tanky. They don't really just die randomly, so it's fine to have them scout out ahead or something.
2. Focus fire is the name of the game. You need to maneuver all your mechs to shoot the same parts at the same time. This makes it so you actually stand a chance at killing them. I can see why lights would be really useful here, as they can actually just run around to the backs all the time and focus fire on the weakest part. No chance in hell assaults can do this, so they're stuck just bashing each other's faces until something breaks, which takes a long time. So lights are more like assassins and assaults are just walls with lots of guns.
3. You can only manually target specific parts of a mech when you inflict status (like knockdown). So you if you can't flank, then try and knockdown or overheat the enemy so you can focus the cockpit for instakills.
4. Fucking melee. Fucking giant robots punching each other. Feels so fucking good.
5. Stand in water. Basically cools down your mech instantly.
6. I'm not sure if elevation does anything? Maybe it affects aim? Didn't seem like it did anything for me. Doesn't seem like there's any point in standing on a hill other than to get clear line of sight.

I kinda wish I had 5 mechs instead of 4. My squad feels so tiny.
