The -2 to hit is huge for less experienced pilots and jumping attacks. Not to mention that double heat sinks are far better in TT, and having a base 20 heat to play with before needing to add heat sinks opened up some possibilities.

I did mention jumping mechs.

You have better to hit at 1,2,4 and 6 hexes.

And yes DHS are OP in the tabletop and it is the one (or first, can't remember) thing Jordan Weisman would have made different in hindsight.  :D

about mechs for late game,  that highlander 732B seems to be the best obtainable mech. 0.5T MORE netto tonnage then a king crab or atlas.

anyhow, this is how i load out my mechs  (provided i have the weapons(witch i dont so most have 3xsrm6 instead(do +++srm4 even exist?))) it runs a little bit hotter then i would like and needs high guts skills or it will take heat damage with a single alpha strike. usually i turn off the lasers and only use them to finish off cripples if i want to save ammo. if there are cripples, its enough firepower to delete any assault with called shot to the center torso -  even if one of the ac20 miss.

I don’t mind if they want to reboot and nerf DHS, though you just know that Clan scum will have DHS in their engines because of course they do. But if they do reboot, they also need to take a pass and rebalance all designs that rely on DHS, like the Crusader.

Its lore is that it was an effective design in the Star League era, and its now crippled by its high heat curve due to degraded technology. TT bore this out, as it could move and fire all its weapons without heat issues on the stock DHS. Remove those, and it was always a shitty design with crippling heat issues.

Pretty sure they won't do that, because so many designs are built around the current rules. That is a lot harder than allow for infernos to be fired from all regular SRMs or change how some weapons do damage against infantry.

Wow, I funded this way back in 2016, I also made a couple obnoxious posts about infantry back then too.

So when's infantry?

Unfortunately we can't squish puny humans. Actually come to think about it we don't technically kill anyone. We just incapacitate them.

I used to think that was just the politically correct term in this universe for killing, until I saw that the enemy pilots actually survive...

Enemy pilots aside, theoretically you could kill your own pilot if you DFA your own legs off (possibly requiring them to have taken hits beforehand). Your own pilots definitely can be listed as killed.

Doesn't it have a special 'pilot eliminated' when you blow a mech's head off?

In the QnAs they said infantry wasn't completely off the table so if they announce some post-launch infantry (battle armor? jump infantry? cities? APCs? air cavalry?) I will be very happy. If they end up doing the clans then I have a hard time seeing them doing that without at least giving us Elementals but they can't do more than their money allows of course... I'm not sure if it would change the viability of lighter mechs but if the tabletop rules are anything to go by it will give a great reason to equip machine guns.

It does?

Parsely: Machineguns are already amazing though. They're actually really strong.

Yea Pilot:lethal damage.  I think it's still possible to survive just how I think it's still possible for a pilot to survive an incap, very rarely. It's just a catchall for 'It does not matter how many health points that pilot has, they are out.'

My MC took one of those when she took an ac20 to the head from dumb luck while in a jenner and she lived.  Something like 6 injuries but she lived.  Though I suppose the MC is a special case.

Your Mech Commander can never die, but yes, a pilot can survive "lethal damage" as well. The Hospital upgrade for the Argo even states that it gives a 5% bonus to the chance of a pilot to survive receiving lethal damage.
