Another kickstarter update has been released. Man, so much goodness in it.

First of all, the beta is set to start June 1st. After that, there is the promised new gameplay footage video. It shows a multiplayer match and lasts about an hour! Thirdly, Harebrained Schemes has made a deal with Paradox Interactive for publishing the game. And finally, there is a new teaser trailer. Have fun reading and watching!

Sounds like it is shaping up nicely.

As always, thanks for the write-up! It is quite helpful.

Thanks, mate. :)

Some more footage came out of PDXCON this weekend. First, we have a developer versus AI showcase. Secondly, there is a developer versus developer showdown.

Another Kickstarter update came out. The Backer Beta is still set for June 1st, but it will only include skirmish mode against the AI. Turns out there are some major connectivity issues that need fixing before the 1vs1 mode against a real player is ready.

Spoiler: Content of the update (click to show/hide)

New Kickstarter update. Beta is being deployed! Expect your key in a few hours. There is also a manual that you can download from the kickstarter update.

Happy hunting, folks. I'll be posting my own videos starting tomorrow. I had planned to do so today, but some heavy shifts have worn me out.

Have fun! I'm looking forward to the single player campaign, personally.

Just played my first match. It's pretty fucking fun, I gotta say. I played a lot more fast and loose than I would with my own 'mechs. AI is... decent. Not murderously hard, but not totally moronic either. I suspect a lot comes down to positioning and prediction--I stomped the enemy lance because I rushed a key point on the map and left their LRM-heavy mix stuck sitting in a pond with no cover.

I got my Locust killed sprinting through the lake shooting at their Jagermech like an absolute animal. Prior to that it had taken essentially no damage between evasion and trees. For some reason they really wanted my Hunchback too, but didn't manage to kill it.

Notably, I saw only a single knockdown from melee, but 3-4 from sustained heavy fire.

How complex or close the game is to tabletop? Screenshots do look good

I find it to feel a lot like BattleTech tabletop. It isn't a 1-on-1 conversion, but the changes the developers made, seem sound.

/Shameless plug

I just launched my BattleTech Youtube channel. There are already several videos up (in English and in Dutch), a few tutorials and some gameplay footage. More to come in the future!

Linky linky.

Have been feeling a couple issues, mostly orienting around stability, pilot hits, and LRMs. Too easy to pilot-kill, knockdowns are simultaneously too easy to achieve and not punishing enough, LRMs are far too effective at landing pilot hits and building stability damage.

Lawl. Getting sued for using Battletech imagery by the IP holder, Harmony Gold.

Warhammer 2C, Marauder and, of course, the Shadow Hawk are the offenders.

God the Battletech/Mechwarrior IP is such a cluster fuck.
