Sniper-powersword-scythe. Really?

Is the pointy end at the end of the barrel weighing it down or do you stick it into yourself and have the barrel at the other end?

First wave it is.

This was more for the purpose of deciding what sort of combat situation you'll be dropping into, once on the ground, if a large enough quantity of people survive, you guys should be getting various objectives, hopefully allowing some flexibility on how you complete them.

Name: Death
Description: His armor is black, and his helmet Skull like
Background: He never removes his armor, he serves as a "Removal" Specialist
Primary Weapon: Combination Gauss Sniper Rifle Power Sword, Formed as a Folding Scythe
Secondary Weapons: twin Gauss Pistols
Bonus: Powered Exoskeleton

You're in. I guess you'll just have to explain how that combo weapon would work. It should be fine to have, since you have an exoskeleton, I just can't envision it. Does the blade fold into the rifle, and then when you want to use it you unfold it and use the rifle as a handle, or does the blade perhaps run down the entire rifle?
______________________________________________________________________________________________

Game Start:

It took a few months, a few dull, monotonous months. But, you all have finally arrived. Called upon to quell a large rebellion on the planet of Corinthus III, you and millions of other marines are fast approaching the planet, and preparing for the assault.

You all gather your equipment that you have selected, and a few other packs containing addition equipment, being prodded along by ship officers to do so quickly.

The additional equipment you each are given is:

-30 feet of rope, rated to hold 1000 pounds.
-6 flares. They work in normal air, underwater, and in airless environments.
-3 red smoke grenades.
-3 flash grenades.
-A firestarter, 20 uses. It creates a burst of flame at 1300 degrees fahrenheit.
-A 30 square foot roll of a plastic like material
-20 wireless detonators.
-Collapsible entrenchment tool, usable as a shovel or a makeshift melee weapon.
-4 Meals Ready to Eat (Many more will be shipped down along with you all).
-Radios built into your helmets.
-A basic first aid kit, bandages, wound clotting agents, painkillers, a small amount of disinfectant. If all goes well triage centers will be set up for more severe injuries.
-50 water purification tablets.

You all find yourselves in one of many briefing rooms, being told what your company will be doing.

A tall man with a stoic look on his face is standing at the front of the room, detailing the situation.

"Alright Bravo Company, let's get this started.

A detachment from our own fleet was sent to the planet ahead of us a few hours ago, the rebel's fleet was not much of a match against our own and we have gained complete control of the space around Corinthus III. You will all be using drop pods, as we do not know the location of all anti-aircraft weapons yet. As you drop, we will be performing bombardments on several military bases, and population center. You all will be landing around a rebel military base, this one will be spared from bombardments, along with several others. We want to capture some of them to expand our own capabilities on the ground.

After you drop however, orbital bombardment capabilities will be limited, most of our ships capable of that will be moving out to a belt of asteroids in this system. There have been sightings of a large number of ships moving through there, and several rebel combat ships escaped into the belt when we arrived.

Any questions? If not, move to the drop pods!"

Edit: I'll be putting you all on the player list tomorrow. Sleep is calling.

Pod 1. Leading the charge in a shiny shirt and flamethrower. What could go wrong?

Ooc: can wounds from gauss guns really be bandaged? I'd imagine the flesh would just explode from the impact. High velocity modern rifles can cut a man in half by sheer kinetic energy. I assume these are even more powerful.

I sadly can't watch that, I'm on the good 'ol dial-up at the moment. But, we'll just say it works.

Yeah, most times you would need reconstructive surgery rather than a bandage. What I was mainly thinking of is when the round first punches through your armor, and then hits you, or if you were hit with some shrapnel or some other less serious injury.

Race to get pod 1 before Amyclas Pyronia.

Take the furthest pod. Hopefully, it'll be the last to drop.

You all get into your pods, they seem rather roomy for something that will be barelling towards a planet. You all strap in and stow your equipment in a small compartment of the pod.

The man who briefed you comes by a gives you all some parting words "These things are pretty accurate if they aren't damaged on the way down. Just try to regroup with the others if your pod misses, your as good as dead alone."

With that, he punches in a command into a panel on the wall and leaves. Your pod doors slide shut, and breathing masks slide over your faces. A soft foam expands all around you all, closing tightly around you to prevent you from moving, and to absorb some damage if hit. You click your radios on and listen to the final checks by ships crew and pod launches commence. Each pod slides along one by one, being shot out of the ship at high speeds.

The pods launch feels like being drop kicked by a giant, as a hydraulic piston slams down into the pod, sending you plummetting to the planet. You float through open space for some time, it feels as if you are sitting motionless, as far as you know, you could be anywhere, as you cannot see out of your pod.

You feel a sharp jolt as you hit the atmosphere of Corinthus III. Manuevering thrusters pulse in various directions as you fall towards the planet, all seems well... then the anti-air weapons start firing.

Rolls of 18 or below meant your pod was hit. There is no particular order involved.

Max, Hudson, Cain, Frank, Kazuhira:

You all manage to land without issue. You pop out of your pods and grab your equipment and examine the environment.

You've landed on the outskirts of a small town, to the east is a fairly large city, a large smoke cloud is rising out of an industrial area of it, filling the blue sky. There are many other mushroom clouds rising all around you, most are many miles away.

Thousands upon thousands of pods fall through the skies, with the occasional sound of ones thrusters if it is near.

The town you are in seems empty, but you know that the civilians are just hiding within the buildings from the occasional flash of movement beyond the windows.

The west and northwest is a fairly thick forest, made up of earth trees that the colonists must have transplanted here long ago. Following a road through the village to the north, will bring you to the military base command wants you to capture. The huds built into your helmets are showing at least 200 others in your immediate area who will be aiding in it's capture.

A bright flash fills the sky, as another tungsten rod slams into the city to the east. This time hitting a cluster of skyscrapers.

Zeron:

Your pod is gliding towards the ground when there is a hard thump, and it begins spinning out of control. It's manuevering thrusters try to correct for this, but fall short. Your pod slams into to something. You pop out of it, and find yourself in a small grocery store, and group of civilians are staring wide eyed at you.

You glance outside and see small town, to the east is a fairly large city, a large smoke cloud is rising out of an industrial area of it, filling the blue sky. There are many other mushroom clouds rising all around you, most are many miles away.

Amyclas Pyronia:

On it's way down your pod is hit hard. Sirens immediately begin to holler, and your pod barrels towards the ground as it's thrusters cut out. It slams into the planet, bouncing several times and rolling all over. You pop out and find yourself in a forest, with a long path of knocked over trees leading to a road.

There are many other mushroom clouds rising all around you, most are many miles away.

You hear voices in some strange language, and see rebel soldiers turn into the forest from the road.
