***Orbital Assault***
Overview:You are a intergalactic marine for the Terran Alliance. You and many other marines are traveling with the 5th fleet to take out a rebellion. You'll soon be assaulting the planet Corinthus III, a Earth like world of 5 billion people. Combat is brutal and deadly.How do I play?:This game works like a standard RTD. You post an action in bold that you want your character to do. I will roll a die for the level of success or failure. For some things there might be more than one roll, or a positive or negative bonus depending on how I interpret the situation. Impossible actions will have a good chance of hilarious failure.
This game is a bit of an experiment, so I will be playing with different types of dice, and it will probably be fairly unforgiving with rolls, due to the nature of the games setting. A bad roll could mean your death, so be prepared.How Do I join?:If there is a limit on players, it will be noted either in the thread title, or on the top of this post. Gauss Rifle – A semi-automatic rifle that fires small metal rounds at high speeds using strong magnetic fields. The common weapon of soldiers, very durable in all situations. 5 clips, with 12 rounds in each.
Laser Rifle – A rifle with a large powerpack in it's stock. It fires lasers that are invisible to the human eye which can burn through armor and melt metal with significant use. You hold down the trigger for continuous fire. Each powerpack allows 3 minutes of continuous fire and it comes with 3 powerpacks. It comes with a wearable eyepiece that allows the user to see the lasers which it fires, allowing easier shooting. They are susceptible to breaking if handled too roughly, as they are a fairly young technology.
Gauss Sniper Rifle – A semi auto rifle that is capable of firing high damage rounds at large ranges. It takes 3.5 seconds to recharge it's capacitors after each shot. The rounds are specially designed, made of depleted uranium. Capable of blasting through armor, and shredding the insides of it's target. It comes with 4 clips, 7 shots each.
Power Sword – A large metal blade, 3 feet in length. It is composed of a special alloy that makes it rust free, hard to dull, and nigh indestrucible (within reason). Within it's hilt, it contains a power pack. This pack is used to electrify the edge of the blade, ionizing the gases around it, allowing it to cut through armor and metal structures with relative ease. It is still quite capable while not active, but will have trouble cutting through armor, and metals, It weighs ~15 pounds.
Special Option Rocket System(SOR) – Said to be named after how someone feels when hit with one of these, a SOR rocket will do more than make your enemies hurt. It fires a high velocity direct fire rocket which explodes into a sphere of flaming shrapnel, which can blow through almost any armor and can kill targets through cover. The explosion can be configured to explode at a certain distance, and to explode forward, downwards or any other direction. It comes with 3 rockets.
Power Knife – A smaller version of the Power Sword above. It can still heat up it's blade and melt through armor, but it is much less effective at doing so than the sword. Meaning you'll have to put more effort into melting through the armor, holding the blade to it longer.
Gauss Pistol – Similar to the gauss rifles, it fires smaller tungsten coated rounds at high speeds using strong magnetic fields. It is extremely durable, working in almost any condition or environment. It comes with 6 clips, 15 rounds each.
Alloy Tower Shield (Limit of one per person) – An advanced shield made of high strength alloys. It is capable of sustaining high amounts of weapons fire, requiring a gauss rifle at the minimum (or extreme volumes of gauss pistol fire) to begin to dent and weaken it. It can be strapped to an arm, and also to the ground (metal or dirt) using deployable prongs. Normally it is 3 feet tall, but can be expanded to 5 feet with the click of a button. It is wide enough for one person to completely hide behind it. There is a small slit to fire through. There are entire squads that use these shields, making a wall with them and slowly advancing.
Fragmentation Grenades – Throw them, and get the hell out. These explode with moderate force, spewing high speed shrapnel in every direction. Shredding through most armor. Come in packs of 5.
Powered Exoskeleton - You gain a powered exoskeleton that greatly increases your strength, allowing you to carry two primary weapons. If it is hit in the control pack, there is a chance it might play twister with your body. Contorting your limbs in all sorts of unfun ways.
Assisted Nervous System – You have been given a brain co-processor. It has been set up to aid in your reflexes and movements. Making you much more dextrous and giving you extra-human reflexes.
Final Stand Implant – You have been implanted with a device that activates when you are close to death. It fills you with drugs when activated. These disable your pain receptors, wake you up if you are asleep and fill you with energy and a rage for battle. Quite effective at saving you in your last moments. Must be re-activated after each use.
Heavy Armor – You are given heavy armor that can take more of a beating than the lighter armor most soldiers recieve. This will keep you alive where the other armor can not. The only side effect being that you are less manueverable in this armor.

Description/Background:Cain is an ordinary marine, hailing from a middle-of-nowhere city. Somewhat cowardly.

Name: Amyclas Pyronia.
Description/Background: Thrown out of space university, Amyclas was taken in by pirates, before eventually settling in a more respectable and legal protection racket. He rose through the ranks after discovering a niche for arson.
Amyclas currently serves the Terran Alliance as a freelance close-combat and "demolitions" specialist. (Setting things on fire is synonymous with demolitions for him.)
Primary Weapon(s): Flamethrower with two high-capacity 20kg compressed liquid methane tanks
Secondary Weapons: A serrated Bayonet knife and a flask of whisky. A hip-holstered 'sawn-off' shotgun with both breaching slugs and wide-spread shot.
Bonus: Lightly armored and mobile to compensate for his heavy firebat gear. Armor is flexible and coated with reflective fire-resistant material which offers him some protection from himself, while making him impossible to be camouflaged. Amyclas compensates for this by getting really close to the bad guys, to the point where stealthy considerations wouldn't matter anyway.
He can be considered strong and good with heavy weapons in general.
Psychology: Physically reckless but paranoid towards people and imaginary entities, he has a tendency to burn his problems to a crisp.
